Default Heads up on a cheap bivy shelter.

For 25 bucks? Sure, I'll give it a try.

I give up on bivys years ago. I like to have room to dress in the morning and keep my gear dry. Thats a heck of a deal though for a bivy user!

Its cheap enough but I'll bet you get wet with condensation though. My Hex 3 is lighter.

Why do you think condensation would e an issue. it is a screen interior with a rain fly? I also am interested if you are talking about the Golite hex 3 or is there another product called the hex3? Because the golite is priced around 10 times more, so I would hope it would be lighter. Is the hex3 you are talking about a bivvy? I might have to look into one.

Thanks in advance

Paul

Looks like a good deal
I have a Gelert solo which looks similar
The only word of caution I would give is on the actual length of the inner tent. Solo is rather snug for me at 6'2" Of course this may not be the case with this one and if you are under 6 foot it would be fine
Let us know how you get on ibuildbridges

That would make a good mosquito free sleeper under a tarp, without the fly. Perfect for light trekking down here in Texas, in the summer time.

The rain fly is so close you will get condensation. Yes Golite Hex 3 is what I have and yes its more expensive but you don't get condensation dripping on you. Hex 3 is now called shangri-la 3

Pitch with pole, hiking pole or hang from a loop thats attached to the top of the tent; sets up quicker than a tarp and hammock.

I hear ya. Had the same thought myself, but then I thought hell I've blown 25 bucks on way less. I mean you can't even do dinner and a movie for that anymore. Honestly though I'll let you guys know how it works, I'll try it out as soon as it gets here.

Thats the ticket mate. Don't let the de-ablers dissuade you. We all get to learn from your purchase so its win, win, win Seriously, $25 for buying a toy that will motivate you into spending a night in the bush is money well spent. Even if the drips are dripping on you. I say go for it and tell us how it works!

(Or for $25.00 you can buy a pop and watch a movie at the theatre)....hmmm....
