OK guys and gals, I just got back from another run, during lunch, to another local thrift store and I think I came up with some really nice wood this time, and a cool little kids tent from Ikea. I am going to need your help in identifying the pieces of wood. Two pieces are obvious they are marked with stickers, two are not. All hardwood, some may be quite exotic. As always, if you think you need it, want it, can use it for knife handles, etc. let me know. Here is the link to the album for the pictures:

Brother Trek, I will leave the cutting to the one that needs the wood, lol. It is pretty cool though.

Any ideas on what the wood is on the masks?

My guess is the Tiki man and related Indonesian/Polynesian/Thai paraphernalia are mostly sapwoods of some sort, like Kwila wood or similar tropical sapwoods.
That stuff is a b**** to cut (trust me, I know...I've used some we brought home from the mission field) and it can ruin saws pretty quickly, it gunks up sanders and grinders and is a general pain to work...but once you get it finished wowee it has some marvelous grain! PMZ |

The cat picture is likely pine.
Tiki man? Does it have an import sticker? If not, it could be walnut. How heavy is it? The myrtlewood I've seen used for knife handles before. |
