Default Leather Awl

I made this about a month ago. I used a speedy stitch needle for the point. It goes through 3 layers of leather no problem. Thanks to Mountain Ron, I learned how to use the eye properly. The needle was about 3 bucks, and the antler was a shed.

I did a little work to the base of the antler so it fits in my palm real nice.

I would like to thank Kepis and Mountain Ron for the help with this easy and very handy item. I think we should all have some kind of item we can use in the woods to repair our own gear.

That's a nice hand tool you have there, thanks for posting it. I agree about being able to fix your own gear.

Great idea, and excellent execution.

Did you drill a hole in the base and epoxy it in?

Very cool modification! I like it. Here's a link to a post on my blog on modifying a Speedy Stitcher to make it more portable. I posted it in this thread on sewing: http://www.bushcraftusa.com/forum/sh...light=stitcher
