I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far here at BCUSA. I have really been shocked at the willingness of everyone here to pool their knowledge and share their love for the outdoors.

I have never been involved in a forum where people just randomly give things away, but I really like the idea.

Alright, now time for the giveaway. Here is the prize( not much, but it is what I can contribute at this time)

Gideon's New Testament- Great addition to any pack, IMO
25' roughly of OD Green para-cord
    monkey fist that I made
Heavy canvas shoulder bag. Good for short afternoon hikes or makes a good possibles pouch
    [IMG]

Rules: Put a simple "I'm in" and "What is the single best piece of knowledge you have obtained from BCUSA to this point". I will pick the winner by random on 3-18-12 sometime in the afternoon. I will cover USPS shipping to any of the USA, and if someone is outside of that you can still win I will just ask you to cover the difference in shipping.

Im in. Great giveaway. The best thing I have learned is to use foam earplugs for a bobber in my pocket fishing kit. I have learned much more just cant think of anything else on the spot. Thank you for the chance.

Do you know what kind of bag that is? It is a "brother" to the pack I use and was wondering what it was.

I'm in. Thanks for the opportunity. I guess the thing I learned is that sometimes less is more, you don't have to pack in half of your gear closet to have a good time.

OOOHHH!!! In please!!!! I had one of those bags...wore it out over many many years...been looking for another! Very cool!

Wow...ONE bit of info? I'll go with how to properly use a firesteel. Sounds dumb, but I have two for decades and didn't know what they were or how they were used. Totally ruined one of them when I was a teenager.

    Thank you!

I'm in, that's a good looking bag. And a good looking Monkey's Fist!

Let's see... the best thing that I've learned is to just get out there! It's easy to make excuses, but you can find the time if you really want to. Even if it's just a quick jaunt into the back yard for a lunch-time fire.

I'm in. The best thing I've learned is knife making skills. Here I learned how to properly anneal, harden, and temper my homemade knives so that they will hold an edge and not break.

    I'm In!

I recently learned a cool trick from one of the members' YouTube channel (sorry - can't remember who at the moment), using bandanas as bags. I often keep several bandanas in my kit and his trick of folding them in half to make a triangle, tying a knot at either end at the top and then turning the whole thing inside out to make a bag is awesome. I have since incorporated it in to my pack to tote various loose items.

I'm in. Thanks for the chance to win such a cool bag. Glad to have you here!

the best piece of knowledge I have learned is kind of in two parts. I have always struggled with sharpening knives, and i learned here that the most effective way to sharpen a knife is with very light pressure, and to use a strop properly. Sharpening isnt grinding a new edge into your knife, but polishing the edge that is there already. When i learned this, and how to refine the edge further with leather, it improved my sharpening tremendously!

The most important thing I have observed in the members of this forum, is the ability/willingness/tenacity to "Get Back Out There", even when things go wrong.
Members have had ill-fated outings, as well as Serious injuries, but have overcome the problems and gone right back out there.

For knowledge, there is nothing you can buy in a store, online or even put in your pack that will make up for having the knowledge and wisdom in your head of how to use them or that you don't need them!
