The bow is from a small custom shop "Mahantango Bows," 60" recurve weighted at 56# for a 28" draw length. The limbs are Red Elm with a matte finish and the riser is made of Bubinga, Wenge, and a small strip of Osage.

Note: the knives are a matching Kephart set from ML Knives in antiqued Osage.

Idk the year it doesn't look too old has a quiver and not much else just curious I bought one and wanna know if its a good deal! Thank for any input!!

Here's a crude bushcraft bow that I recently made (my first time making one) after my neighbor purchased a beautiful recurve bow:

Cddtpb2.jpg

I wish I had some pawpaw trees in the yard, so I could make the string as well.

Here it is being shot:

Want to share my favorite recurve bow, it's a Shakespeare Archery Model B-1 Hunter. Draw weight is 45 pounds at 28 inches. I absolutely enjoy shooting in the back yard a couple of evenings a week...something about it is very soothing to the soul. I've set a goal for myself to harvest a whitetail deer with it this fall. The Dakota style quiver was made from a repurposed BDU jacket. It has a small pocket that will hold an Altoids tin or other small gear. I normally keep the bow stringer in there now. Enjoy and thanks for looking.

I primarily am a compound bow shooter, but I enjoy dabbling in making bows out of PVC. Here are three different ones I've made.
Left to right is the newest one I've made with a paracord bowstring and paracord handle...it will eventually carry a small survival kit in it and be a walking stick as well, the middle and right were a combination of wood/PVC.
This is my attempt at a crossbow. It's a ton of fun to shoot.

I have a Fred Bear "Black Bear" 45# 60" AMO made in Grayling Michigan that my Dad gave me a couple of years back. I have to admit I still use training wheels every once in awhile with a Bowtech MightyMite 60# ( I need to take pics of my Bowtech )...

Man those are sweet! I have an old Oneida Eagle. People always freak out at the limb and pulley design of Oneidas... I felt comfortable shooting at, and I killed many game animals at 100+/- yard distances.

Here's my Sarrels Sierra. I love this bow. It has a cocobolo riser with S-shaped grain patterns and some wide fiddleback/curling figure and bamboo limbs with wood-burned primitive arrows under the glass. After having shot literally hundreds of longbows and recurves, I've yet to find a single bow in my draw weight range that is more dead in the hand when shooting. Also, the grip fits my hands absolutely perfectly. Money couldn't buy a better designed grip for my body. I do wish somehow though that this bow was a 2-piece so it fit better in my single cab truck.

My first bow, "Goshawk" 76 inch English style longbow. I made it out of Red oak with Black walnut nocks. 30# at 30" draw, just got some wood arrows from RMSgear.com and it is shooting great. I went with half field points and half rubber blunt tips. I learned a lot from making the bow and look forward to my next one.

Thanks. I've certainly seen prettier bows. But, this one is my keeper because it flat out performs.

Not sure if I posted these before, IIRC there are 10 bows on the rack (which was a re-purposed rubbermaid organizer that my wife was going to throw out)...

stump shooting outing today!

Went for some bushcrafting and stump shooting today. also did some videos of my form.

more than anything else I checked out my new arrows with a cherokee style 2-feather fletching in 5,5" orange shield style!
Flying perfectly, fast and straight!
Turkey creek (discontinued) longbow with 4 bamboo laminations core, curly maple veneers, and I gues rosewood-osage handle, 52# at 28" but rather pulling 56#. arrows are Carbon Express Heritage, which are my favorit carbons! blunt points, 125gr; 10strand string from something extremer than fastflight...forgot the name. otter string silencers....arrow speed close to 200fps.

Selfmade Armprotector and fred eichler tap!

Snakeskin bowquiver from eagles flight archery...tight and perfect for that purpose!

Just a couple of picks of a longbow I'm finishing up. I never take enough pictures.

Shaping the riser and a coat of wipe on before 2013 is over. I'll get the rest of the coats on tomorrow.

Here is my newest self bow its hickory 42# at 27" and 50" strung. I wrapped it in mossy oak cotton cloth ( I think it was once a curtain) soaked in wood glue, it dried nice and makes a good backing. Wrapped the handle in scrap leather laced with 550 cord, and used the leather for the rest. Shoots well out to around 30 yards with decent penetration. Sorry the pictures are a little blurry and sideways oops. View attachment 121052 View attachment 121053

Ok now I've had a few minutes to go through the post and I can see that have a lot of work to do you guys are awesome there are some true artist on this site I look forward to my next bow I definitely don't have what most of you do as far as artistic skill but I am up for the challenge I hope.
