We actually got snow and not ice!
We ahve allot more now will update with pics later!
nice, no snow here yet...where I live is like the Florida of Canada
Nice one Snake, winter finally arrives
Just rain here for now. I really want to head toward the Smokies right now.
It was snowing then went to sleet then rain then snow again! They are calling for 4-8 inches!!!
I can only hope!
looks beautiful, man!
Send it to TX please
Looks like most of the east is gona get a little white stuff!
This is now about 4 or 5 inches!!! this is an hour since the last set of pics!
Wow!! Awesome pictures! What part of the country are you in?
Conover NC foothills/Piedmont area
i would like to be between those two pine trees in the first pic deer hunting.
Oh man! Theres a good amount that that travel that area! Next year im getting some tags and getting one or two! Tomorrow im going to go for an American bimble Ill show off my little spot of heaven!
My son and his friends decided to do some boarding and sledding! They are using an old skateboard deck!
Videos of him boarding!
If any of you guys were in Nebraska and wishing for snow, we farmers on the eastern side of the state would gladly nail your collective butts to the first vacant cross!
Wish some of you could have been up here yesterday, when my brother and I were trying to chip those 185#/side tractor chains out of the ice and frozen dirt/gravel mix and get them mounted.
We're looking at another 6-12" wind driven blast next Tuesday. Do any of you even know what it's like, trying to get half of your next year's income in the bin and out of the elements?
Just like ol' Curly said, simply....."City Folk"!!!
Nice pics Snake
Dude it is deep where I am at. Cool thing is the snow tires on the subaru kick butt.
I couldn't get out of the drive way earlier! Now its some freezing rain! Wife wont make it to the hospital for work now!!
LOL the prophets of the airwaves have spoken..."they" say we are going to get 6" of snow here...not sure if we will though. Chances are I will wake up tomorrow AM to find either a foot of snow or none at all.
It's pretty clear out there right now...no clouds or nuttin.
(You can tell I don't put much stock in weather forecasters)
The storm may just graze us here in Maine....and that is a good thing.
For all of you getting pounded right now stay safe, don't drive, and build a few snowmen! And post the pics tomorrow of course.
Any other time I'd rejoice just like the doctor. But, I'm leaving Dubuque Ia in the morning headed home to East Tennessee. Have about 4 inches at home and the power is out. Just hope the roads are relatively clear.....
Every choice has it's trade-offs. Although what you are talking about would be tufff. I know some NC farm boys, from down east. To hear them "poor mouth", you'd feel sorry for them. But I don't live on 500/1000 acres with turkey, bear, ponds, deer, dozens of tractors, 4x4's, 4-wheelers, etc...
Be safe on that journey! 321N is shut down in hickory drivers are stranded on the highway!
Dont know how long they will be there! They have been stuck a few hours!! Kids are on the side of the highway playing in the snow!
Bad timing, Ruhamey! Keep low, keep slow and get there late...but get there!
To sympathize, or empathize means to be able to put yourself in another man's boots. I have one attitude about winter storms when the power grid's up, I'm sippin' a cold one and watching the weather channel on the 42" LCD.
I have a whole 'nuther attitude when I'm out in a 20-below wind chill, swinging a chainsaw and trying to get my rig off a mountain through 2 feet of snow.
I'm trying to maintain my composure here. Whether Wolfy's one of the guys who puts corn in that can you just opened for supper, or feeds it to your car, what guys like him go through so the rest of us can be comfortable ought to be appreciated. Nuff sed......
We have a bunch of the stuff headed our way tomorrow.
Wish me luck guys I have to try and make it to the hospital to drop her off! They dont have enough nurses and the few they have; have been on almost 24!
So since my wife is one of the oldest an the cardiac floor and most experiance and Im a little nuts and like a challenge (the time and a half + 24 is not bad either) I wont see her till Monday!
I will take pics and video of the trip!!
I woke up this morning and there is no snow here. Zero. Zilch. Nada.
I had the feeling that would happen
Out of that list of attributes that you've listed there, Kayjunman 1........we have ONE. Deer are a major part of our dealings with each year's problems. They eat ALL of the 12 end-rows or headlands. Wish they would quit there, but they don't.
The two that I take each year and the the two that my buddy/mechanic take are a drop in the proverbial bucket. I allow hunting on my ground, as long as the "guests" take does or non-antlered deer. Kids, especially are welcome.......if they are supervised or "mentored". Gawdam.....I HATE that term. Where did that come from?
Looks like you need to get your sled out.
My sled is still in the shed....my corn is still in the field.
Thanks for your concern!
He might have been talking about a sled to haul the corn.
What's the plan for getting it from the field to the crib? I've never seen a corn popsicle before....
I've got some funny stuff to tell you guys about "farming" in this day and age.
I just got done picking my very modest family-owned farm that my brother and I manage and we are more than "greatful" for our bounty and will be giving to those in need. No brag, just fact.
We try to will 10% to those that deserve it! It's hard to do....I know we do more for those that DON'T deserve it than those that DO!!
