I have access to hunt 120 acres about an hour south of my house. I normally hunt feral hogs there, but have also hunted rabbits and squirrels. My rabbit hunts this season have been unsuccessful, up until today. We got about 2" of snow on Thursday evening, so I wanted to get out today to give it a try with snow on the ground. I pulled out the shotgun my mom and dad gave me at age 13, 37 years ago at Christmas. It is a Stevens 58B, bolt action .410, built sometime between 1933 and 1942. I managed to take 2 cottontails, the first with a paper-hulled shell that had to be 30-40 years old. This old shotgun still gets it done!

That rifle looks insanely cool, I'm a sucker for bolt-actions with wooden stocks. Nice catch too;)

LOVE that old rifle. Wouldn't mind finding that in my den someday. Congrats on your hunt!

    Very cool.

I remember when I was about 12, used a borrowed 410 bolt action just like that on a rabbit hunt.

These days I'm using an H&R Tamer in 410 with a youth stock.

That's awesome, and made even cooler by the fact that you used one of those old paper hulled shells. Nice work @ozarkhunter

Way to get em! I really enjoy hunting rabbits, small game hunting is a blast.

I had a pile of old paper hulled shells a that I decided to fire off a little while back, I really love the smell they give off when fired

    Gotta love a bolt shotgun!
I bought my wife an old 20 guage mossberg bolt gun. She loves it. It's her deer gun believe it or not.
