For members here at BCUSA ONLY! Since we all get out and see or find unusual stuff, I'm making this offer. The equipment to identify minerals can cost a lot of money and I might as well get as much use out of it to make it worth owning. I have been in the mineral business for about 40 years. My company has to do with exploration and assay work. Any member who has a rock or mineral specimen that they can't ID can get in touch with me and I'll do my best to tell them what it is. I use chemical, microscopic and some very advanced machines to do this and it takes time. Answers can take up to two weeks so its not an overnight thing unless its something I'm very familiar with which is usually 90% of the time. I will start doing this after February 25th since I will be very busy at Tucson and some southern California doings. All I need is a small sample about an inch square or so. Send me a PM and I'll tell you what to do.

It's very generous of you to offer this kind of expertise to us! I know lots of us around here really enjoy learning about our entire environment and geology is really fascinating and plays a key role as to why flora and fauna is the way it is in a given area.

I'm pretty sure we can keep you busy Ron ;)

Real nice of you! Its unbelievable the amount of minerals and rock that are around us and that most of them have a purpose. If you receive any that are yellow/gold color, please send to me!

That is really awesome and generous of you! I haven't come across anything spectacular or out of the ordinary, but now I'll keep even more of an eagle eye out for them! (I do miss the SoCal deserts and the vast abundance and diversity of minerals... Here it just seems to be chert and limestone)

Pretty cool of you to do this but I won't be needing the service; in West Michigan our only mineral is SAND. We have more sand than the Sahara.
