I don't, though I have bikes ,need to cary while riding ,"yet" .
There are loose dogs, and there are questionable characters about all the time .
If you know where they are and can avoid them that is the best avenue .
However , if they cannot be avoided as in your own neighborhood then you've got a reason to cary.
I only use a shoulder holster if I'm carrying period. Why ?
Muscle memory . it is where i is and there is no where else for it to be found.
If I am knocked off the bike or crash, the gun is with me .
In the Los Angelus national forest cyclists and joggers have fallen prey to mountain lion , I have had my own experiences with them my self thank you very much .
Bear can run ay 35 MPH and 35 MPH is a real push for a bicycle rider for very long on good roads .
Any thing running is an attractant to predators .
Cats love the chase so do wolves and bear .
It depends on conditions, which are changing, and game is getting scarce.
What may have been true in the past, is all a lie now, and in the future. More druggies and homeless and other desperate people and animals .
If you think it an unnecessary security issue ,throw away the spare tire out of your car. Its only wasting space/weight .

I will go for a bike ride at dusk quite often looking for skunks that are close to my property. I carry a .22 in my hands across the handle bars. Works well for what i need.

I was doinh this one night and got a phone call so i was talking and riding when i seen a skunk in the ditch about to dart into heavy cover so i bailed off and shor with one hand. Got him though. The person i was talking to just laughed and said that sure sounded like me.
Ps. I am very rural and no neighbors anywhere close.

    Congrats on the skunk!

I do a walk around at dusk with the dog looking for skunks. Have only shot a couple. Couldn't get a shot at a couple more. Only was without an appropriate gun once, which was the time the dog got skunked and I wasn't able to catch the little bugger and slay it.

I dislike skunks about the place.

there's a company that makes bikes (and bike racks that will mount on most bikes) made for hunting and fishing. It's rack on the back of the bike that carries a long item (gun, rod, bow or whatever else you may want to carry). Cogburn Outdoors

    thought people might be interested....

Yep, and a nifty place to put the tool bag. I was just starting that the bike in question sparked the question. Thanks.

    I really like my Shield.
Carries and shoots well especially for the size of it.
