I've been doing bushcraft and old school woods stuff for about 30 years. I do a lot of self reliance and old-tech type of stuff like tanning and skin working, working with natural materials, growing food, wood, metal, stone, bone all that stuff. I went through a primitive technology phase in the 90s and still have a business with my ex called Paleotechnics. For me this stuff has always been more about evolving toward a more engaged lifestyle than as a hobby, and now I homestead on 40 acres. I am a born experimenter and teacher. I spend a lot of my energy now on experimenting and re-learning old skills, but all of it really to the end of contributing to the re-skilling of people. I consider it my duty to subvert the paradigm of physical and mental helplessness that is spreading like a disease throughout modern humanity. Most of my content is on Youtube under SkillCult, all of which is also indexed on my website, skillcult.com along with all of my old articles and such from other blog projects. Looking forward to interesting discussions, learning stuff and sharing what I have to offer.

I grew up down there running around nissen marks and stealth camping on UC land. Say hi to cave creek for me! I've been dying to get down there and get a truckload of limestone to burn and check out the old lime kilns on grey whale ranch. If I could kick everyone out, that might be my perfect place to live. You can stay though ;)

Welcome to the forum. Sorry about the cord of wood misunderstanding earlier. You sound like you are doing a lot of similar stuff as I am. Just finishing up building a house all by myself (well with wife and three little kids) on my own semi remote 40 acre plot. I grew up with this stuff, but also got big into primitive skills in the 90's. At that point is more centered around native skills and primitive archery. Spent a lot if time on the Primitive Archer site back then. Again welcome to the forum.

No problem. I was deep into primitive skills in the late 80's to mid 90's mostly. We probably have some mutual friends. I used to go to some of the gatherings, but quit when I got lyme disease in the late 90's. It's a great base of knowledge to work from. There is nothing else like that primitive perspective.
