I stopped by Matt Paul's (MP Knives) shop tonight and he agreed to make a Hudson Bay pattern knife. I am hoping that folks will post some pics or images of the pattern to get a sense of the different approaches that have been done in the past. Dimensions would be helpful too. Thanks in advance... Here are a couple that I have found:

About 4 1/4" in the handle, and just a bit over 11" overall, and I believe 1/8" thick though I'm too comfortable to measure specifically.

I have been lusting after a Hudson Bay Buffalo knife for some time now.

While I love the traditional blade shape, this one from Shrew Bows is awesome to

I've been lusting after a Mike Mann Hudson Bay for a long time. I have another one of his knives and they're outstanding.

I just noticed that several people (myself included) have been using the word 'lusting' when speaking about the Hudson River knife. Coincidence?

I traded for this Mike Mann HBK recently with a good fellow at BF. He said he got it from Dan Shechtman.
7" long blade is 3/16" thick. Black micarta handle is 4 1/2" long.

Great knives. They not only look cool but were designed for hard use. If I was going to make one I'd go by original specs from the Hudson Bay Co. They are super bad.

Based on this pic. What would the optimal dimensions be? I see several 8.5" blades, and I've seen 3/16" steel. What's everyone's take?

I love mine, but I think the 1/8" stock is a little thin. Keeps the knife lightweight and feels good in the hand, but I'd take a 3/16" any day. For me, anything thicker would seem a little clunky.

    4.25 inch handle, maybe 11 1/8 overall. 1/8 thick.

Tiny - I've been screwing up the numbers in your username this whole time, lol - sorry! Glad I was able to contribute to this thread with that knife - I love it! Unfortunately between it and this thread, I think I'll have to pick up one or two more someday. :)

Warrior - thanks brother! That's a seriously sweet lookin' package you've got there. Now all I need is a Condor Nessmuk, Hudson Bay, Bushlore...
