So, since I totally spaced out and never started this thread for December like we were going to, we'll do it for January. No biggy. So then, your task is to go find a piece of clothing that is no longer suitable for wear and find a new purpose for it. Be creative, and try to use as much of the garment as possible, but have fun with it!

    Anyone working on this?

The main part of my project is anbout 90% done. The second part is about 70% done and the other bits as still on the drawing board.

I'm working on a project that upcycles some old clothes.
I'll be glad to post my progress closer to the end of month.

My wife takes old blue jeans and makes shoulder bags with them. I have one that I use for hunting and gathering herbs. I will post a picture of it. She can make one really fast and they are durable.

I really want to, but I have a knife project going this month, my first ever, and homemade oilskin shelter tarp that will be made into a Whelen style tent. I still have two weeks to figure something out on this project, love the idea and want to participate, but got nothing going for it as of yet. Just wanted to let you know that even though I am not working on it, I am there in spirit with those who are, you are not alone, eh? :4:

The article of clothing. A pair of my old work pants that got a hole a little too close to the crotch.

The plan was to make a Haversack, a belt pouch to replace the nylon cover on the military first aid kit I use as a survival kit, some Altoids tin covers/pockets for the haversack, and a tool roll.

    The Haversack

    Front

Back side with Ax loop(planning on adding a retention strap as soon as the hatchet I won in Kvothe's 200th post GAW arrives os I can be sure it'll fit) I also need to find some leather to make a sheath for this hatchet. Ax loop itself is 3 layers of canvas around a piece of heavy nylon strapping. It's sewn onto a reinforcing patch of about 5 layers of canvas inside the bag and also rivited in place.

    Altoids tin pouch(tin's curently empty)

Little leather accents on everything came from scrap suede leather from the boot and a old pair of gloves. Leather lace is from a big bag of farmers lacing I picked up at Tractor supply last year.

Its not January anymore, but I got one I'm working on.
I've been saving dead jeans and using them to make nice heavy blankets for everyone at mine home. I love how durable they are.

Here is the first blanket and piles of jeans scraps.
