Wish I could make it Gents, but not possible for me that week.
Maybe I can take a weekend out of archery season in October and make it for that one.

Good on ya plainsman for getting this together!

Regrets on my part. Sad to say Uncle Sam and Cousin Kaw are taking money from the Mrs. and I this year, so every dime is being scrimped and saved to that end. Sounds like a blast and I hope to hear all kinds of awesome stories to fuel my jealousy of those who go! Seriously though, you guys have fun and I hope to make the next one.

So Plainsman, what does the sites look like? Does it have plenty of trees for us Hammock swingers?

The park mgr. is supposed to let me know where we will be this week. From personal experience there are at least a few trees in each campsite.

I don't want to lay on the ground either!

Not sure how I ever got along without a hammock!

That would be cool. Can you bring pine sap too and then you could show how to make pitch?

I'll see if I have any pine sap around -- the fatwood is a trunk i harvested elsewhere a couple years ago and sectioned up - it's roughly 4"x4" x 4' - I figure we can cut sections off one end for folks and they can sliver it up however they like.

pitch glue is pretty easy if you have globs of pine sap on a free -- heat it up to melt it, then add a bit of ground eggshell and some wood ash.

I just found out that the 6th is Passover (based on the barley in Israel), and then I do Sabbath on Saturday and try to avoid travel.

Wish I could meet y'all in person, hang out and learn some stuff. I hope there is another one soon (maybe we can all pay something so it's not all on one person so it can happen more often?). Have fun and take lots of pictures!

Thanks _Plainsman for putting this together!

I will be there for sure and look forward to meeting the bush folks. I talked to my daughter today and she said she wanted to but, kinda needs to talk to her boy friend but, would maybe but, so after the 3rd but, I said I will miss you but would take a few pictures and she could help me post them here. I should have added a but at the end but was really not trying to teach her a lesson.
I Look forward to the event. Are there any plans for activities? should I bring anything for a planned something or nother?

There will be a few things going on but mostly just hanging out, sharing information, working on BushCLASS, and skill building.

There will be plenty of time to relax if you want.

A member from Big Red One will be doing a class as well as my wife.

You can bring anything you like and camp how you want. No requirements. If you have a particular skill that you feel would benefit the group, then you are welcome to teach away. : )

    Alright Gang,

The official campsite area will be located HERE.

That should get you there via GPS, but for those that still wing it in the dark I will be staking signs to lead the way.

I checked the forecast today and it will be cool with a couple chances of rain so be prepared for anything Ma Nature can throw at ya! Tarps, Ponchos, Jackets, etc.

I will be there early Friday and look forward to a ton o' fun!

I'm in Osage City right now and it is partly cloudy and in the mid 50's.
What I would consider perfect camping weather. : )

Chance of showers on Saturday but nothing serious. I have a truck full of fire wood also.

Me and the other guy from fort riley are hitching a ride down there together and will be in the park around 1030 or so. We will help with preparing the sites and anything else you need. Didnt really have a chance to put classes together due to a busy and short work week but I will get something on index cards tonight.

    See you in the morning!

This was a great gathering! There was great people, great food, and a great location. I dont think the rain even brought down anyone's spirits.

The generosity of this community does not cease to amaze me. Can anyone say new mora?.... I just hope that one day I can develop a skill or craft that I to my be able to give back to all of my bushcraft brother and sisters! Until then I will be there to light anyone's fire or shave them a few feather sticks.

    Plainsman,
You are a stand up guy and putting this together was awesome of you. I hope to get together again and learn some more from one another.

    WiskieT over and out!

Thanks everyone for such an amazing event! I was taught many techniques that I will carry with me on every trip I go on, and I was given tools that I greatly appreciate. Thanks for the Morakniv, cotton balls, and firestricker. It was awesome and I can't wait for the October trip!
