well i've been trying on and off to get a fire going just messing around. lately i've been really trying and i finally did it. took time to get everything right and it all payed off. wish i took a video of it but i did get a pic, you can see it just starting up after i got my tinder bundle to flame up. oh yea dont mind the pink line i used its all i could find in my parent garage. i believe the would i used was some type of gray birch. anyway alfter the fire was going i was looking around for some hot dogs but couldn't find any so me my brother and my dad enjoyed an ice cold beer.

Congratulations. If it was like it was for me, It was a pretty awesome feeling. It just makes you that much more confident and "at home" in the wilderness.

yea it was great sitting there thinking about it. was like i gave birth to a child or something, i know that sounds crazy but i'm sure some of you felt the same way with your first fire.

Congratulations! I've never succeeded at this yet; black dust and smoke, but no coal. Guys like you inspire me to keep trying; thanks!

    Congrats!

Lot of symbolism in friction fire and you gave a great analogy many primitive cultures identified with in creating a new life... fire. Not hard to figure out what is the male part and female part, and the coal being the womb.

Welcome to the bowdrill club brother. Ain't nothin' like the first time. Or the second, or third...

Congratulations and keep up the fine work.

Congrats! I just recently experienced that revelation a short time ago myself, there's nothing like it. Want to try it again, but I have to find my right arm, I think it dropped off behind my workbench after the experience! LOL!
