So, you could drive up temporarily to the sites to unload, then drive back to park? That would be helpful.

I see my spot there on the left at about 1:08 in the video. Could you dust that off for me?

    Those are hefty tables.

    Thanks for the scouting report.

Sit-rep: I woke up this morning with a sore throat, which I though was from dry air. It wasn't.

I loaded the car and hung my clothes in the garage and sprayed them with permethrin.

I went to the local outdoor store for some replacement snaps for some leather work and some lunch out.

    They were out of snaps

I started to realize, after much vitamin C and oregano oil consumed, that my sore throat was not from dry air.

I'm getting sick and lunch out did not happen either.

Took seem more vitamin C and oregano oil and typing this while resting hoping for healing overnight

Hope it's just a touch of something and clears up over night. I find that the dry air is often the culprit and getting the humidity up helps.

Tis the season, got walloped by the 'bug' going around, has hit 3 out of 4 family households and finally nailed me earlier in the week. For the record, I blame the mobile petri dishes I call nieces and nephews. Ha.

That said, a trip to urgent care, a boatload of meds, steroids, antibiotics and a sizable chunk of my deductible later, situation improving. Yeah, I tried my pine tea, hemlock tea, crushed it with Vitamin C, drank lots o fluids and did everything I could but finally cried uncle.

Good news, for sure I'll be dropping off wood tomorrow. Will need some help unloading and I know that won't be an issue. Splitting it, likely won't be doing my fair share on Fri, will see about Sat.

As I live about 20 or so mins from the campsite, I may bail on Fri evening activites depending on how I'm feeling but I'm not bailing on the weekend. Have way too much yacking and brain picking to do about fishin my brookies up North and finding some spots on the Musky that aren't crushed around stocking days.

Trailer of wood is ready to go.
    Dutch oven in the truck.
Just realized I never seasoned the thrift store dutch oven find, so that will be happening this weekend.
Heading out to garage to locate long lost boxes of chert and flint to give away.
    Gear is packed.
Tonight, finishing touches on copper tonteldoos.

IMG_4134.JPG IMG_4135.JPG Ok, chert and flint located. Hadn't laid hands on the box in 2+ years so there was some risk the garage ate it, but we're good.

Oh and a quick check of the flint, yeah, it's sharp. So I threw in a box of bandaids. Also a nice little tinder box tin if someone needs one.

More flint than chert as it turns out, so plenty of flint to go around. Flint makes better sparks, chert doesn't flake as easily so it lasts a little longer. But if you don't have flint in your fire kit, plan on going home with some. Absolutely make a point of finding me if you don't see the box out on a table somewhere.

I have a bunch of ferro rods. Some in carving wood so you can carve your own handle. Have some extras and a brace and bit that can drill holes in other wood for handles. Thinking fatwood if we can find some.

I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but I'm a no-show for Friday due to a lingering illness. My goal is to arrive as early on Saturday as possible and hang for as long on Saturday as possible. No overnights for me till I get myself healthy.

This usually works fast (24-48 hrs.)

Also, I would take diluted Oregano Oil on the hour (while awake) until I forgot to take it.

    Get Well!

You guys are killing me here. I'm not sick but I took half a day off today to finish packing and have been beating down my dread about sleeping over in this weather.. and now the whole weekend looks iffy for weather. Stokes was rough in October when the weather was much warmer, but it was a cold rainy day.. now it looks like down there is a chance of snow/rain Friday night and Saturday..

    (zip code 08088)
Friday - Sunny, with a high near 39. West wind 6 to 11 mph.
Friday Night - A chance of snow after midnight. Increasing clouds, with a low around 30. West wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday - Snow likely before 9am, then rain and snow likely between 9am and noon, then a chance of rain after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 44. East wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday Night - Rain likely before midnight, then snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 32. North wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Sunday - A chance of snow before 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Sunday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 27.

@Pastor Chris I'm so sorry to hear about you getting sick, as well as the others!

At this point I've all but reserved a room in a nearby hotel, but I'm still bringing my tenting stuff in case. I'm really feeling that doing this overnight right now is not worth the dread that I've been experiencing the last few days, and with several people dropping out for sickness it's feeling a lot more lonely out there besides.

I'm still planning on getting there early afternoon tomorrow. @Wolfcri - buns and condiments are ready to go.

I was so glad you brought that! We forgot to restock on hot chocolate and the hot cider was very refreshing!

    Hi all,
For those interested in my banana bannock:

@svh on this board gets the credit for the original recipe :) However, I did change it up a bit, because I have a SWEEET tooth ;) - First part is SVH's, second is my changes:

    SVH || Mine
1 cup white flour and 3/4 cup wheat flour || 1 3/4 cups OAT flour (because it sounded.. "healthier", and I had it on hand!)
1/4 +- cup sugar || White Sugar- 3/4 cup, AND Brown Sugar - 1/2 cup
1 teaspoon baking powder || Same
    1/2 teaspoon salt || NONE, I forgot ;)
1/2 cup or so of the nuts of your choice. || NONE, I don't like nuts IN stuff (though I like them on their own)
1 or more bananas, sliced || ONE banana
2 or 3 tablespoons butter || Umm.. not sure.. about 2 or 3, but I hadn't measured so I guessed at camp :)
ALSO, SVH personally suggested I also use a cup of banana pudding to make it moister, and I definitely agree; I use those snack packs - Banana Cream flavor :)

Your banana bannock was excellent! Especially on a cold day.
