for anyone that is interested... in the "pimping" of my mora clipper I took several pictures that showed the shape rather well... and since one of the few complaints about this knife that I have heard is that the tang is to short, just for kicks I traced the outline in Illustrator, checked my measurements, and made a printable PDF pattern for a full tang version...

and since I now realize I have neither the time, resources, or skill necissary to make them, I have also attached some other knife patterns that I came up with over the summer when I was toying with the idea of making a knife or two... four of them are just variations on the same pattern... all with 3.5" blade, 8" overall... and the other two are a skean dubh(sp?) and something like a long finn pukko...nothing special, just figured I would throw them out there in case anyone was interested... they print out on regular 8.5" by 11" letter paper....all I ask is that if you do make one of them, that you post some pics of the finished product...

three more I came up with today to alleviate the onset of brain implodey boredom... again, they are basicly just three variations of the same shape...the drop and clip point jobs are 8" overall, with 4" blades(I printed them out and cut them out of cardstock, and realized the handles may need to be tweeked on these ones)... the bottom one is 11" overall, 5.5" blade...
I really need to get the stuff and find the time to make some of these at some point...

Nice work man. I have been using Inkscape for my sheath templates and its been a fantastic program to use. Its so much more capable than doing it all by hand, and its much easier to draw up concepts.

Leaf, I hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread to add a template I just made up:

The first pic should (theoretically) print to roughly the right size.

The second pic is for size reference.

It's exactly 6 inches OAL and exactly an inch at the widest points.

Not PDF, but it is a .PNG image. Mebbe .JPG if you download it from Imageshack. Just right click, "Save Image" or "Save Link As" and copy to your goodies folders.

Pretty rough compared to yours, I drew it up by hand:eek:

But I thought I'd add it just in case anybody else was interested, esp. for those who love dags and such. This one's sized for the ladies.

    Cheers!

Leaf, that first one in the last PDF is just like my first personal Old Hick bushy I made, it was by far the best design for a carry knife I've made up yet! I traded it off:(

Need to make meself another one!:)

'cause you asked... not sure how well it would work, I don't have much experience with Kuks... the design is mostly based off of what I can remember of pics I have seen... may need to be played with...

Thanks for the patterns. I have to mod a "chunked" (really really big chip) Green River so your patterns helped me decide the blade shape. NICE profile of the Clipper. What a great full-width tang knife that would make!

LOL Just wish I could get him to do a better drawing of the Cephas Ham Bowie. I tried, but have no faith in my artistic skills. No idea on scale of it either after trying to find out from the Alamo museum...never did get an answer.

backwoodsman mag listed the blade on the Ham Bowie as 8 1/4"... traced the outline in illustrator and matched up the dimensions to that... here it is...
