You get to take five travel-size (about 1-2 oz.) containers of seasonings. But only five. What do you take?

    Here's my list

    1. Salt
    2. Pepper
    3. Old Bay
    4. Mrs. Dash Original
    5. Garlic powder

    1-Salt
    2-ground Szechuan pepper corns
    3-Garlic
    4-Tony Chachere's (Red Top)
    5-Trail Dust

If I'm not allowed to have some of the premixed stuff I'll swap out some Paprika and chicken base powder for the mixed stuff.

Tapatalk ate my spelling and grammar.

Salt, pepper, Mrs Dash original, garlic powder.. then either italian seasoning, cajun seasoning, or Molly McButters.

ETA: Cayenne pepper, too - if I don't have any hot sauce.

The only seasonings or condiments we typically pack are:
    - salt, pepper, and sugar (in those little single-serving paper packets one finds in fast food restaurants)
    - 3 tiny Nalgene bottles for olive oil, butter, and maple syrup.

This may sound like it would make for very bland cuisine, but when camping, or even on a day trip where we'll be eating a hot meal in the bush, my wife and I pack meals we've cooked at home and dehydrated ourselves, and so our meals are all pre-seasoned. Even when we bring in fresh steak, - which we eat within the first day or two on a canoe trip - the raw steak is pre-seasoned with Montreal Steak Spice and then it's wrapped in cheesecloth that's been soaked in vinegar. This vinegar wrap ensures the raw meat will not spoil even after several days in our food barrel.

We've found that making and dehydrating our own pre-seasoned meals makes camp cuisine simpler and faster, takes the guesswork out of how much seasoning to bring (none), but also reduces weight and bulk. Carrying in little ziplocks or plastic bottles for spices just adds needless weight and volume to our pack weight.

    Hope this helps,
    - Martin

I think the only one that is out of the ordinary is the steak rub but this stuff is like new lingerie for your red meat haha.

For things I don't use as much, I would put them in straws. But things like salt, pepper, Mrs. Dash, etc.? I use a lot of it, so I use small 1 oz. containers for them.

    Five containers of salt. :)

    Otherwise:

    1. Salt

    2. Peppercorns (stays fresh longer whole; crushable with multitool)

    3. Lemon Pepper (for fish; having this helps make the first two last longer; I've also tried lemon-infused salt but prefer this)

    4. Cajun

    5. Cinnamon/Sugar mixture (for cereal, oatmeal, any sort of camp bread; can also make an emergency SnoCone for kids if one is out in the right season, although carrying a small packet of Kool-Aid powder is better suited).

I actually use a nifty stacking container with five compartments that independently screw together. It's from Muji, its about an inch in diameter and 5 inches high

It has salt, ground black pepper, chilli flakes, garlic granules and mixed herbs

Assuming the scenario limits you to the 5 selections

for a considerable amount of time, If I'm heading inland away from the ocean I'd carry:

    1) salt
    2) salt
    3) salt
    4) salt
    5) salt

Same situation, and I've got access to the ocean at my disposal:

    1) curry powder
    2) pulverized beef bullion cubes
    3) pulverized beef bullion cubes
    4) pulverized chicken bullion cubes
    5) pulverized chicken bullion cubes

    My favorites vary:

    Kosher salt
    Pepper or lemon-pepper
    Cloves, Nutmeg or Cinnamon
    Sage, Rosemary, Thyme or Oregano,
Cayenne (simply because it can do double duty as a clotting agent).
