Looked like an awesome time! Hope to make it up there for a meet sometime. Meeting up with other folks that share the same interests is one of the greatest things about BCUSA in my opinion. I would've just shown up for a shot on the 50 cal or the bacon, though :D

so around 5 AM on saturday this dog was sniffing my tent...and my bro'in'law
Pablo was like - "man there is a coyote trying to get in the tent" probably grabbing his / my knife

me- " bro don't worry...he cant open the zipper" ....that' what my answer would have been if i would have heard it...but i didn't because i had some nice 3M earplugs

but it turned out to be a nice Red-bone CoonHound ...very nice but hungry dog from the neighbors down road ...

now this dog...man ,it was not his first bush-craft meet i assure you...he just came in like , hey Y'all got some food ?
then he got some fish cleanings from Paul's fish and took a nap in FatOldMan's tarp set up LMAO

    [IMG]IMG_3704 by gagapesc, on Flickr

he even got in on some steak action

    [IMG]IMG_3772 by gagapesc, on Flickr

i mean...eyes on the prize ! but well behaved and very docile and friendly....

    [IMG]IMG_3769 by gagapesc, on Flickr

and of course after dinner you take a good nap between a log and the fire pit...

    [IMG]IMG_3775 by gagapesc, on Flickr

we didn't know his name,,, so some people called him Redbone some called him Shiny Balls !

    LMAO

Keyser, you were gone already, but Ol' Shiny Balls followed us out Sunday morning. Trotted along next to the trucks like he was wishing us well.

Not the first time that I've had to sleep in the doghouse!

A great big THANK YOU! To Keyser Soze for the gift of a buck saw! (I don't currently have a working camera to post a pic- but it looks like the one in the blade glamour shots) - Sweeet! :dblthumb:

Another THANK YOU! to Keyser Soze, Tennessee, Tennecedar, Paul Foreman and the other guys for the time that you spent with my son- He REALLY enjoyed this weekend. He's the primary motivation for me getting involved in bushcrafting. I appreciate the fact that I have guys like you that I can point him to...As NO Dad on this Earth has all the answers. :35:

I wanted to give another special thank you to Paul Foreman (One of the most genuinely nicest guys you could ever hope to meet!) for doing our carving tutorial! I was busy with some other things when it got started but when I went into camp Paul had all the guys literally mesmerized into their spoon carving. My oldest son arrived after it got started but watched for awhile and quickly became mesmerized as well and started his first spoon. He called me today and said Dad you're gonna have to come over soon so we can do some carving! :dblthumb:

Thank you so much Paul for sharing your knowledge, skills and helping others discover a love for wood carving!!!

I'm still exhausted from the meet and there are so many thoughts I want to share but it may take another day or two of recuperating before I can think clearly enough to express it all. My face is still sore from smiling so much. :dblthumb:

Guys, what more can I add? it says a lot when you can walk into a group of people you have only shared some comments on web space and within a few minutes and a handshake, feel like you've known them for a long time. that's what we had this weekend.

without laboring over everyone's name, lest I forget someone, let me just say congratulations and thank you to all who attended. it was an honest pleasure and a privilege to share a camp with each and every one of you.

I would be remiss though, without a special thanks to Tim who put on this hootenany. it was extremely well planned and coordinated, outstanding job brother. hope your feet heal quickly...

Hey guys, I finally got around to counting and unless I missed someone final count as I have it was 22 people. We had several that had to cancel at the last minute due to an unexpected death in their church family. If they had made it we would have had right at 30 (not sure exactly how many friends he was bringing).

Tim, Collin is registered on this site but doesn't post enough to even remember his own screen name so I'm just going to go ahead and say I think he had an amazing time this weekend. there were several of you (and you know who you are) who made him feel really special and I am truly grateful to you for that. this was a really special group...

Thanks for bringing him and I'm really glad he enjoyed it, he seems like a super nice young man, and very intelligent too! Please let him know we'd love for him to come back when we have another meet. Hopefully he can at least view the thread and all the awesome photos on your computer.

    Thanks for everything brother,

We talked briefly about him just opening a new "account", rather than going through all the strokes to re-up his old one.

He's a sharp young man- I enjoyed meeting & talking with both of you at the Alabama meet-up last February and was glad to see you guys made it to TN!

I regret that I have to post this but it is necessary for a couple of reasons.

    1. To reassure everyone that was at this meet and to let anyone that would like to come to one of my meets in the future know that your safety while there is my "#1 Priority"

    2. To let everyone know that anything that could possibly put the people there in any danger
    Will Not Be Tolerated!

I basically only had one rule for the meet, everything else was simply guidelines. Here is the one and only rule from the details post in the planning thread:
"15. A shooting range will be set up for those that would like to shoot firearms and shooting will be allowed as long as it's during a time that I'm able to supervise, ie we have no one hunting behind the range or other activities going on that would make it unsafe. Again as a reminder no one that has consumed any alcohol will be allowed to handle or shoot firearms as the two are a very dangerous combination. I don't mean to be rude or ugly about this but my top priority is to make sure everyone there is safe and has a great time!"

Firearms are a big part of bushcrafting and I'd like to be able to continue to offer the ability to shoot them at my meets but it must be done SAFELY.

I had a person who had been told both in the group and "one on one" that no shooting was to begin until I was sure everyone knew we were about to start shooting and I had confirmed that everyone that wasn't on the range was in camp so I'd know they were in a safe location. This person after being told more than once CHOSE TO FIRE ON HIS OWN anyway! He only got off one shot before I got him stopped but that one shot could have been deadly if someone had been behind the range (needless to say this wrecked my nerves for awhile)!!! I had everyone sign a liability release waiver but still they were on my private property and their safety was my TOP PRIORITY!!! My second priority was to be sure everyone was having fun and had no worries!

I will not be naming this person and it's nothing personal but this person will not be allowed back as I will not risk the safety of those at my meets!

PS. No alcohol was involved or this person would not have even been allowed to have been handling a firearm.

PSS. Just to note, I wasn't mean or rude to this person in any way and let him enjoy the remainder of his time there.
