Thanks for that - I have always enjoyed archery. I am better with a hand gun but enjoy archery quite a bit more.
The process is more relaxing for me.

Also, it's much easier (not easy but easier) to make a primitive bow and some arrows than it is to make a primitive firearm.

Well, back to the drawing board on my technique:)

Things like this just amaze me. Resurrecting an ancient technique that has been lost in history is one of the coolest things ever. There are so some many examples of this from hunting, trapping, food making, etc. I am rambling...

The guy has some skills! Thanks for sharing.

It is really awesome when people research old techniques and find they really do work. I saw a similar on European sword fighting techniques from the middle ages.

I am utterly dumbfounded. That is... wow.

He could literally jump out of a tree and hit you with 3 arrows before he hit the ground. Makes you wonder how accurate the rest of our perception of ancient warfare is.

You're safe Iz...he'll never best your Legolas skills. He might shoot shoot a little faster but you got the elf stature to best that.

He is holding 3-4 in his hand at all times so as soon as he shoots, he just has to draw the sting back to shoot again, not grab another arrow from a quiver somewhere

The rest is practice, practice, practice

I'm going to be a devils advocate: Yeah, fast, yeah his trick shooting is accurate for the tasks he set up.
I personally don't think what he does is something that an aspiring archer should try to copy- He never gets to full draw, he is off balance, and it appears he's shooting from fixed/known distances. At least the Legolas character comes to a full draw.
I bet he has great form when he slows down, but that trick shooting is not great form.
Fun to watch for sure, though.

I don't care if he does it text book or not. Three arrows on target at almost 80 yards in 1.5 seconds is dang good. The video clearly states that he was following historical examples not modern ones. Being able to shoot accurately at less than full draw and off balance would be very useful in real world situations I would think. Just like using pistols or rifles at the range and then using them in the field.

He shot through riveted steel chain mail armored with a field tip three times in under two seconds! I imagine his bow is designed for heavy pull and short draw. That way he wouldn't have to come to his full draw to get enough energy to penetrate.
