    Finaly got my B.O.B.
This is my first Kydex sheath. Before i got the knife i was thinking of making a leather sheath right away but since the sheath was very well made i decided to try it out first. I had it on my belt for a few hours and i did not like how high it was riding and also the metal clip was bothering me on my hip. So i was thinking on what to do and decided on adding a leather loop more like a dangler-style to it. First i planed on taking the metal clip off and use the same bolt and screw for adding the leather but than i had a simpler solution and i think it turned out great. i did not change anything on the actual original sheath, i just added some things.

    P1030910.jpg

    P1030913.jpg

What i did was cutting a rectangular peace of leather, fold it, glued one end together so the other end formed a loop, at the glued end i made two holes and cut out a line between the holes for the metal beltclip to fit.
as a plus i was able to ad some paracord on the back of the sheath between the belt clip and the bottom end of the sheath.
I like it a lot more know how it rides on my body.

I hope you enjoyed this little improvement ( at least for me ;) and let me know what you think

As for the Knife it self, i am loving it and cant wait to get out and use it!

Wish you all a good weekend

    superb idea.
reckon you could have unglued it after the slit was made, so you could pull the clip free, then slip the loop off without having to undo your belt? and put it back on without removing your belt?

Hi Paul, it is possible to take the sheath from the belt by taking the leather loop out of the clip but its a little irritating. i think a better idea would be to put two snaps in the leather loop below the belt to easily take it off and on again

Had the chance to practice a little primitive living skills with the kids on Sunday.
The BOB was very comfortable to carry with the sheath modification. I used it to prepare a bowdrill and try'd the divot on the Handel. It works great. I had an amber and flames on my first try.

THANK YOU! :D I'm planning on buying a B.O.B. Fieldcraft and was shopping for a sheath because I knew I'd hate that metal clip. The problem was, a replacement sheath was going to cost almost half of what the knife cost!
This is the perfect solution and so simple too! :35:

Thanks doulus. You will sure enjoy the B.O.B. Its a heck of a Knife!
I like the sheath a lot now after i added that little leather. But i am going to make me a leather sheath because i want a pouch on it for a scharpener and some small stuff and because i enjoy working with leather.
I am going to post the process once i got to time to start that project

yes i made that pouch. The leather belt around the kydex taht holds the ferro rod passes the beltloop of the pouch.

You should post this sheath modification on Bladeforums. There was a post yesterday where a member loved the knife but was looking for suggestions on how to modify or remove the original metal belt loop. I think this is a great idea. Nice job.

Nice mod, but a few things I've noticed with the Sheath for mine are that the whole thing is way too noisy while hunting, that clip rattles against itself, the knife rattles inside the sheath, and nearly every one of those little bolts holding the thing together fell out last year hunting Elk, and I could have been in trouble with a sharp blade taking a slice out of my leg!You should watch out for that(I suppose I could have gotten a bad one?), I ended up just pop riveting mine back together, until I get the coin to buy some leather and make a real sheath.I love the knife but the sheath stinks...YMMV.

Inspired by Renny, I set out today to make a 'Dangler Loop" for my B.O.B.

I'm no artisan but hey, it works!

In the first pictures the leather was still wet... looks a little better dry! :54:

I have since than modded the sheath a little more. I will take some pics in the next few days and also write a little review on the BOB after a 2 years of use in the field

Love the BOB, hate the sheath. It sits too high and is too noisy. I ordered the leather dangled sheath and have been happy. The mods done on the OP's sheath look very useful.

I like TOPS knives, currently have 1, and have sold one on the past. I think the sheaths themselves are top notch (no pun intended), but the sheath clips are obnoxious.

Bought a belt holder for a Mag Lite. Used the holder to go through the BOB clip. It is now a dangler.

Saw this mod and thought to myself...Perfect!

I had to make one for myself. It sits beautifully at the right height.

    Thanks to the OP!
