Josh (username Cold Winter) and I just got back from another trip. We're trying to camp in every state in the Northeast USA. We hit the White Mountains of New Hampshire a couple of weeks ago, and decided to try out some of Vermont's wilderness this time around.

Just a single overnight. Very nice hike to one of Vermont's tallest waterfalls. After we hit the falls, we hiked about a mile downstream to a desolate part of the forest to set up camp.

*See Page 2 for Cold Winter's photos as well.

Tried out the hobo stove which I whipped up in like 15 minutes the night before. If you notice the placement of the rods that are sitting in the half-moons I ground in the lip, the rods are adjustable, so it can hold both my 16cm Zebra Billy, or my metal cup. Works great for both!

We came across these huge ruins. They are two miles into the forest, and one mile off-trail. Any ideas on what they once were?

The ruins are probably once some homestead, the banksters came along and and inflated the land worth their property tax, pushing them off their land and into the city to scrub toilets and wait tables.

Great looking country. Man do I envy you guys exploring all over the NE. If you find out what those ruins were, let us know.

That would be a great place for a metal detector. You could probably find some cool stuff.

Thanks for the positive comments guys.

And yes, that's the plan. To explore the wilderness of New England. Who knows what's on the menu.

The backpack I'm using is a Gregory Palisade 80. I do believe that they have a newer model out now, and they made a few improvements with it. Great pack.

thanks, a bit large for me but i will deffinetly look into that one if a longer trip comes up. It looks like if you packed accordingly you could go a comfrtable week with that pack depending on food and such.

Btw. I can't remember if you told me this or not but the spider you came across is a wolf spider and it (getting ready to jump at you from what you experienced) is him being aggressive towards enemies.

The colors up in New England area are amazing this time of year. Give it about another week, and things will start to get ridiculous. Leif knows.

Nice job, Cody. Looks like a great trip, glad to see you're making time to get out. The scenery is amazing and I think I recognize the knife. Is it my imagination, or do I see a maker's mark on the blade? Keep getting out and sharing your adventures. Good luck hitting all the NE states.

Thanks alot! The trip was pretty Epic because Vermont has so much to offer. That is the Osprey Atmos 65. I love the pack to death. It feels amazing on the back with it's tight mesh design. If you had thought's on buying it then buy all means get it. Very durable, comfortable and looks sick ;)

In about 2 weeks were gonna get dropped off at the Amtrak train station with just our hiking gear then take the train to Maine. The location on where were gonna hike and camp out is still in the discussion. But we will keep you guys updated and posted with up coming news about the trip on this thread.
