My wife always enjoys bringing a one of those tiny bottles of red wine for hikes of a few days.

Being a bourbon drinker i also bring a flask of whiskey, preferably Knob Creek with me.

Ive also found half and half of vodka and rather strong country time lemonaid when its colder can be very enjoyable. It also seems to work wonders for helping the nerves after safely getting out of a bad situation and knowing your now warm, dry and safely in a camp with a fire going.

    Whats your poisen?

A flask of either Knob Creek or Jack Daniels.

To quote Lewis Gates (Tom Berenger) in Last of the Dogmen: "It's whiskey, its good for you."

I just don't see the point of a thread that if you remove the word "bushcraft" from the title it then becomes off topic.

But hey, I'm not the cyber police so knock yourselves out.

I think the original intent is adult beverages you take with you while bushcrafting. Lots of folks take a flask with them while out camping.

    Drink and axe responsibly. :)

Maker's Mark, Jack, or Jim, with coke or straight up. But not a big drinker, seldom carry on a canoe trip, and never on a foot trip.

    I'm into brandy these days.

It has come to taste very sweet to me as I have gotten older and balder.

Also, it's a lot of fun to show the boy what happens when you spit it into the fire... :)

I think I look forward to that even more than drinking it.

Summer= absinthe, w/o all the ritual. Just water. Or Pernod.
Winter= a brandy or cognac. Or any whisk(e)y other than scotch.
Back in December on a hike thru the Guadalupe mtns NP it was cognac in the flask.

Overnights I usually have a flask with some Sailor's Jerry. If I am just out for a day hike I often fill a Nalgene with homemade hard apple cider. On real short hikes in I often carry a couple bottles of craft beer.

Either way I try my best not to get too far gone. I've seen what happens to a man after he's gone one too many rounds with sailor Jerry in the bush. Two words ... Tortilla and Hat. :D
