I have become intrigued with the Finnish collared axe. I'm not quite sure why, but I am. I have been watching a few videos on various birch bark projects and the presenter is carrying a collared axe about the size of a Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe. That is about the size I am looking for, maybe a little bigger.

I have no idea what these are worth, but I trust the community for that.

Cash and or trades are offered depending upon price.

Would be happy with just a head as that is easier to ship and it would be a fun project.

Let me know what you have!

These days there always seem to be a couple on eBay, but you'll lay out at least $125-150 including the $45 shipping.

But, its a sure way to get one of these in your hands ASAP. Want me to post a link or two? I follow the seller if only for the pleasure of looking at the axes!

Excellent! Perhaps it would be best to send me a pm with a link. IDK how that is looked upon here. Thanks very much!

Saw those in my original searching before starting this thread, very nice indeed but $$$ for sure! I was hoping for something more in the $100 range for a head.

This is the video series I have been watching. Very informative and I like the presenter's style. The axe he is carrying in the video is about the size I am searching for.

I sent a message to an axe collector that recently posted a couple small ones like that on Facebook, Chris. I'll let you know if I can connect you up.

'Billnas' is a good way to find them. The eBay seller mentioned may be a friend of mine on the Canadian side. If so you'll love his work if you go that path.

I have a Billnäs Bruks 1123 head coming directly from Finland via a member here. Thanks everyone for the help and advice. I hope to do a restoration/build/use thread on it when it arrives!

Ha ha yeah, it would probably be worth grabbing a few nice heads if you were going there anyway for vacation, to bring back to the US to sell!

I'd take one in a heatbeat.

Nice that you were able to source one.

    And quick even.
