I spent from the 15th though the 25th on the South Fork of the Salmon River. It rained everyday I was there except the first and the last days. It was OK with me I like Spring rains.

Scenic views on the way into the area.

I took three cameras on this trip. Unfortunately I had problems with two of the three. On one, a Lumix G3, the photos had blown highlights or were over exposed. On another I lost several photos due memory card issues. The last one worked OK but that is the one I used the least. Sadly I didn't realize I was having problems until I got home. So I apologize for not having better photos.

It leaked quite a bit. Luckily for me all the drips and leaks were on the side where I was not.

I was given this stove two years ago. Prior to using the Coleman I did all my cooking over the fire.

I sure love making grilled cheese sandwiches on it.

I didn't have the dutch oven on the stove for more than three minutes and the stove caught on fire where the regulator screws into the stove.

Some super slimy mushrooms on a log. The texture of these things were between rubber and slime.

I use to be able to drive down a short road to a really nice camp. About 25 years ago the Forest Service blocked the spur road off with rocks and ended dispersed camping here.

The river is less than 50 feet from the last photo. It was a great place to camp before they kicked everyone out.

    I took a road trip.

It puzzles me why someone would put a lock on a garbage can out in the middle of nowhere. It was right where the Payette and Boise national forest intersect.

End of the road, one way goes over Lick Creek to McCall, the other goes to Yellowpine. In May the road to McCall is still snowed in so it is a no go.

Where the Secesh River goes into the South Fork the forest Service has an obsession with closing this short road. Some of the locals have shown their discontent as can be seen by the bullet holes in the sign.

Many years back, I camped at Penny Springs campground. At that time it was an abandon campground the the Forest Service ignored and nobody camped there. The tree in the photo goes right across where I would pitch my tent.

It is interesting that you brought up spoon carving. The area is full of alder with is great for carving spoons. And during the trip I kept planning on carving a spoon but every time started on one I got sidetracked by something else.

Without a few minor calamities and misfortunes, it wouldn't even be a real camping trip to me. These things happen, no big deal, it was still a really good trip.

I appreciate you guys taking the time and interest in my trip report.

For a long time, 'Central Idaho' was in the sidebar for location. But due to ongoing health problems, I have been bouncing back and forth between the Stanley Valley and Meridian. I am at the point where I feel like neither one of them are home to me, very frustrating, so 'somewhere in Idaho' is where I am today.

    Thanks for dropping by.

Stanley is about 50 miles from me. Unfortunately I don't have wings so it's about 6-7 hours to drive, lol. But that's part of what makes Idaho so great.

Great report. hate when the forest service is closing so much stuff. Different reasons in different areas but sometimes I feel they just don't want to have people there or they don't want to patroll it or don't have the money to support that.

I appreciate you liking the fire and thanks for taking the time to check out my trip.

On a side note, calling me 'Bucky' might be cute if I was a little kid. But in all due respect for an old greezer in his 60's, I prefer 'Buck' thank you.

I'm not sure what you are getting at? Do you care to elaborate?

Thanks for sharing another outing with us. It’s nice to see other parts of the country.

Oh sorry. I wasn't trying to be cheeky. For some reason I always read your name as BuckyFynn. I think the "y" just blended in my mind. I just thought that was your name. My apologies, Buck.
