    Hey folks,

My wife is an oil painter and enjoys going on day hikes with me to capture a view.
I have recently upgraded her painting setup and I am looking to to find the right pack for her to tote her gear.

    Dimensions 13-14 width x 21+ height x 7+ depth.
    Cordura or nylon is preferred.
Open top design; flap, drawstring, or rolltop closure. Less interested in zippers.
    With a hip belt.
    Lighter weight is a plus.
Looking to carry 20-30 pounds with supplies, and day hike trail necessities.

14 inches is a bit wider than many of the backpacks I see out there.
Have been looking in canoe packs so far, as they seem to be closer to this width.

I did spot that Cooke Custom Sewing has a Rucksack that is about right.

I am wondering if folks have any suggestion of other packs that might accommodate.

    Thanks for any ideas!

I have the CCS Bushcrafter pack which is the Rucksack with side pockets. It is a well made pack and I can recommend it.

Burton, the maker of snowboards, has a decent line of packs many of which are designed to carry snowboards.

I would consider getting a hard case for the canvas(es) and attaching it to a Burton pack.

My kid has been using a Burton pack for several years and it's held up great.

While it's not quite a top loader, and has zippers, this carry case is sized to carry larger canvases and has a couple straps to tie a tripod/easel to... it seems OK for the price..
