The flooding there is rare but it has happened a few times over the years. It seems to be getting worse though as this is the second time in less than 6 months.

The meets are always an absolute awesome time, wish you could have made it too. If I ever figure out a good way to overcome some health issues I'll start back having meets.

It use to be a very rare thing that it would flood there but in recent years it seems to happen more frequent.

I ended up having to back out this year but went to the winter one last year (Jan 2017) and had an absolutely great time. It was the previous year's picture thread that got me wanting to go in the first place, and it ended up being even better than I hoped. Pulling in was kind of surreal, considering I had just driven nearly 700 miles to camp with a bunch of guys I had never met in person, but it didn't take more than 10 or 15 minutes to feel at home. I mean, this wasn't my first time to show up to a meet / gathering / get together organized on internet forums where I had not yet met anyone in person, but it was easily the best. I still remember how invigorated and satisfied I felt leaving there.

And if you think Tim is friendly, welcoming, and generous with his time and knowledge on here, you'd be surprised how much more so he is in person.

It was cool that Guy was able to make that event too, and shared some really interesting stories around the fire, including how this forum got started and all that.

Sure missed you too brother! Hosting the meets has been the most fun I've had in a long long time.
It's one thing to read how to do skills on here or watch it on youtube but there's nothing like the kind of one on one instruction that goes on at the meets. I get so excited and have learned soooo much at the meets. Every one has been super nice and so generous to share/teach skills! Having the opportunity to sit around the campfire with Guy and learn more about how the forum came to be was super cool.

Looks like a few recent posts were lost in the forum server changeover that happened last night. Sorry about that guys.

The meets have always been an unbelievably great time, thanks for taking a look brother! I honestly don't have the words to describe just how much fun they really are. I love going back through these meetup threads and reliving the great times through all the photos. When you have 30-40 like minded great folks sharing a campfire at night it's very special!!!
