This elite, formerly super secret organization, composed of characters that would prefer to be in the woods instead of ……… well just about anything; recently announced their support of a bushcrafter attempting to thru-hike the 2,192 mile Appalachian Trail.

    So far their plans include:
Paying for a hotel room while she was heaving up her guts with her friend “noro-virus”
    Buying replacement hiking boots
    Forwarding four re-supply boxes
    Fed-exing Amazon wish list packages
    Sending 23 care boxes
Showing up on the trail to endow her with goodies
    Sending replacement shoe inserts
Providing overnight stays at member homes. Complete with …… real food, clean sheets, showers, loaner clothing, permethrin, and trips to …….. grocery stores.
Fundraising for temporary catastrophic health insurance
Sending random hot meals via Paypal
Paying for her bus ticket home

    We don’t ask for remuneration
    We don’t require fanfare
We’re not interested in “the spotlight”

But hey Christine / Siren / @ChocolateSpatula? , we know you’re taking more than a handful of pictures a week ……… would it kill you to send us more pics/stories?

    Amazing bunch of people.

What an impressive list of sponsors, I'm honored to be among your numbers.

To those of you NOT listed above, what are you waiting for? Join along, and if you're north of New Jersey (especially New England) you may be lucky enough to get a personal visit from this awesome young lady.

    This thread needs a bump.

Aren't there any of you that would like to join this elite, formerly super secret organization, composed of characters that would prefer to be in the woods and earn the status of being one of this young lady's angels?

If you act before midnight tonight, not only will you get free shipping but you'll have the satisfaction of being one day ahead of those who won't sign up before midnight.

    WHAT A DEAL!

Caught up with Christine for a meal and a tour of Cabela's Hamburg PA

Hiker "Pretzel" has been behind "Siren" for a couple of months. Part of her original "Tramily". They were both glad to see each other. It may have been only 8 weeks since they hiked together, but they both felt like it was a lifetime ago.

Scored a free meal from a trail magic chef at the Port Clinton Pavilion (town lets hikers sleep in it overnight). Looks like 16 people staying tonight (plus another half dozen sharing a room at the Microtel)

She has been to a mini Cabela's, wasn't ready for the real deal.

Uh oh ....... right handed / left eye dominant. Ambidextrous, shoot left handed was also tried.

Bought a box of "ammunition," chatty cashier was very helpful to inform Christine that they weren't just "bullets". Those are loaded "cartridges". Christine was glad to learn that the "bullets" were the part that moved out the barrel under great force. The "propellant" was the gunpowder that burned real fast and pushed the bullet. The "primer" was the device that caused the fire/explosion. The "casing" holds it all together so it's easy to load. She's so patient, she listened to everything and said thank you.

For the first time, she's able to splurge a little bit. She bought a self-inflatable mattress, and is working up ways to make it into multi-tasker. Hopefully it's also allowing for more sleep at night. Sounds like popcorn when you roll over though.

Here's a photo from her campsite a couple days before the self-inflatable mattress came onto the trail. Suspect correlation is strong.
