had a hot dry spell. i had to use sprinkler twice to keep stuff alive and i hand watered individual transplants about everyday. then we got some good deep soaking rains. made all the difference in the world.

i've got the rest of the garden put in for this year. (i'll expand and do more for next year)

(from left to right) watermelon, two types of peppers, and tomatoes put in this weekend.

beans are doing well.....i think most of the second planting are starting to come up.

peas in the back left and spinach on the right. i did replant the snowpeas to thicken it up a bit. the spinach is seeming sparse in the sprouting, but that which is growing seems to be doing well.

oh, corn. you might have noticed my reinforcements, with the fence and the boards (the baby rabbits were going straight through the fence). the rabbits seemed to especially love the corn. i did a serious replant on this too. still watching for it to come up.

haven't started watering regularly yet-though it's just about time. i know i need to get those weeds in check....i've just had a lot more on my plate lately. wish i had some heavier mulch to help with that and the watering. always wishing...

Well my garden is finally in. It’s been raining so much here the ground wouldn’t dry out enough to till. Had a few warm/hot days with no rain so I was able to work the dirt and get everything in the ground. Looks like everyone’s gardens are doing well!

I have my electric fence up around the garden . Right now I am powering it with a 12 volt gel cell I scavenged from a. UPS unit I bought from work they had just taken it out of service. A month after replacing the batteries it has 2-12 volt gel cell batteries in it I got it for a buck. I have a battery that was used on a big diesel generator coming Tuesday

My apple trees are flowering. Possibly a good crop in four trees and a few apples from the others. Some of the trees are biennial. I planted these starting when I moved in but many have died. I planted another two trees this year to replace those that died.

I built some beds and laid down cardboard to kill the sod. I'm having a garage built and some of the better topsoil will go in these. probably won't plant anything in them this year.

I raced the rain tonight after work to get everything cultivated and weeded . I started raining as I was putting the walking tractors in the garage.

@plumberoy you win, I lost the race to the rain here. ;) I was able to weed a little yesterday but definitely need to get at it again.

I tilled as close to the plants as possible. I used a hula hoe for in between the places I can't get to with the tiller. I put the hiller on and run between the bean rows to roll dirt over the weeds to smother them around the beans

The landlord and I just finished installing an exterior tap in my place. It's smack in the middle of the garden. My garden just got a whole lot easier. You can see we had a swing and a miss on the first hole, hit concrete.
    Cheers Jim
