    Edit: All information will be posted in this post.

    I like @Doc.'s suggestion for a location. Here's a link to the area:
    http://www.hikinginmississippi.com/?page_id=387

    Edit: posted wrong link

    As for a time how does late September sound?

    Does anyone have any objection to Sep. 26-29?

    As for any rules or whatever, we're all grown folk. Just remember that there may be kids and spouses present.

    Current list of attending:
    @SouthernJourneyman
    @OMRebel
    @Doc.
    @Mox wanders
    @Outdoor Time
    @DixiePreparedness
    @lighterknot
    @Steven Ferguson

    If you're a vendor let me know and I will list you as such.
    If you want to teach some sort of class or would like a class on something please post that as well.

    Saw @lighterknot 's reply to the old gathering thread and thought maybe we should try again for this year. Last time we tried a gathering only 2 of us showed.

    I would really like to see something come together this year. I'm thinking maybe in the fall so we would have plenty of time to get it together and organized and be on the other side of summer.

    Also, we would need a place to go. I do not have access to any private lands, but there is the possibility of WMA's or somewhere public. I'd also like to have a trade blanket setup, whether with hobbyists or vendors, whatever we can get going.

    So who's in? If you're interested jump on in and let's get this rolling. Be real cool to see this turn into an annual event.

    I’m in. Choctaw Hills Trails system is between Louisville and Choctaw Lake State park. 30 miles of trails and they allow wild camping. As well, the north trailhead is at Choctaw Lake where there is a campground. Numerous opportunities. Fairly centrally located in the state. Check it out. Bing “Hike Mississippi “ website. Doc.

    I've been wanting to get out that park. It certainly would be a nice central location.

    We have been slowly trying to get around to all the state parks over the last couple years. Last one we went to was Tishomingo. A bit run down but had some nice trails going through the foothills.

    Anybody had any thoughts about when to do this? I will go, but since it is a bit of long trip I'll have to take a little extra time off work. No worries, I will also use some of he time to visit the folks, just need know when.

    Sounds good.

    Does anyone have any objection to the fourth week in September? Not sure how long we want to have this for. A couple of days at least.

    Just happened to see your edit with dates; so the date is 26-29 September? I am good with that.

    Yeah, figure that would give plenty of range for folks that may not be able to take off during the week or weekend.

    I would like to go and that will give me time to plan to be off work. Please keep me updated on any changes. Also would family be welcome to attend? I have never been to anything like this so I don't need to do anything wrong. That is if I can even get everyone on board.

    You may want to click the watch thread link at the top if you haven't already, that will help ensure that you get notifications. Not sure if if send one out when I make edits though.

    As far as family, absolutely they are welcome. I plan on mine being there.

    I made an edit to the original post, put up the wrong link for the location. The Choctaw WMA has free primitive camping, Choctaw Lake is the location for more modern amenities.

    I've updated the OP with the correct site. Do you know if the trail system has actual campsites or do you just find a nice spot? We need to find a way to make sure that we all get to the same location.

    There is a map of the entire trail system on the website. The map shows campsites along the trails. However, if families are attending we may want to camp in the primitive camping area at Choctaw Lake at the north gate of the trail system. There is a fee charged at that campground since it’s in the state park. Doc.

    I’m planning on heading to the Noxubee Hills Trails & Choctaw Lake State Park within the next week to scout out the place for our September rendezvous. I’ll give a report and if it meets y’all ‘s approval then maybe we can lock in our plans. Doc.

    I’ve been through that area a lot on the way to Ole Miss back in the day.

    So are we looking at a scouting trip here? Or just planning for September?

    I’d love to have a scouting partner but I don’t know exactly when I’ll be there. I have to meet a fellow in Kosy first and then head to Ackerman. He hasn’t nailed down our meeting day yet. Doc.

    I wouldn't mind someone doing a class on the bowdrill. That's one skill I've yet to accomplish. I keep blaming in on our crazy humidity, but I'm sure it can be done by someone that knows their stuff.

    Just out of curiosity, (i'm assuming these days are hardset so I can put in some vacation time) will this event be rain or shine? I personally don't mind getting a little wet
