My third submission, Thursday, March 7. Met observations, partly cloudy, 8 degrees Fahrenheit, light westerly breeze, time 1710, 2 hours 40 minutes of daylight gained since the solstice. Last month's submission, there was mostly open ground. We've had several snowfalls since then, including a foot or so a couple of days ago, so snowshoes today. Rumors of spring abound, meanwhile -10 degrees this morning.

I am going to be the outspoken and unpopular grump. I love seeing everyone’s adventures and accomplishments, but if you say “I updated post #x” from way back when, I am likely to miss out on your adventures and accomplishments.

Why not just post new stuff for each month? This is an Internet forum. That’s basically all we do... post new stuff. So, how about we just do that?

I realize the format of this “challenge” poses special challenges, but still.

I agree. I enjoy the new posts, but if they're done as an edit more than likely I won't see them.

Here is my spot Mar 9. Great day today, above freezing or close to it. Bright sun.
Other than 6 or 7 inches of fresh snow, looks a lot like Jan and Feb.

    March Report

The rain hasn’t let up much since my last report and the river is still really high. I had to put on my poncho on the hike down, but it cleared off and turned quite nice while I was fixing lunch.

After long deliberations, the jury is finally in: I definitely prefer the Etowah II stove to the Fancyfeest. It’s just so much faster and more stable, and much more flexible for nesting. Th EII is heavier, but still super light. One reason I was leaning FF is the EII is tricky to light with a Bic. But — I’ve learned — it’s dead easy to light with a fire steel.

I'm dropping myself from the thread. I've been stuck in Mesa with family issues for over a month so I missed Feb's deadline. I'll also be away from my choice of spots during my trip from May thru July. But really, I don't really consider that spot my go to place to camp.

Good luck to all and happy adventuring!

    Entry #3.
    20190312_063735.jpg

To the eye not much has changed,
but note the pond: now high, it spills
The ear is where the difference lies, spring bird song- good for all your ills.
Two ducks are resting on the water, a few more weeks and they'll move on.
And soon the green will bloom again, and winter... will be gone.

A day at the lake with my 3 yo. He first time there. She got her first boonie hat and she loves it. Took her to the Discovery Center first, saw some critters there. Then we mossied around to the back side of the lake a little then walked around while I showed her some things and she picked flowers. Good good day

March submission. It was supposed to be a nice day. I had planned on doing some shed hunting and cooking up on the hill but I woke up to 1" of new snow, squall lines coming through dumping a dusting of large wet flakes about every half hour. Once I got on top the wind was just horrible so just got my pic, foraged some chaga and birch punk wood.

My March submission. I am shooting for taking the pictures on the 4th of every month, but for March I had to do it on the 3rd, since I was going to be out of town on the 4th.

    Obviously!

But it probably doesn’t smell the same.

I grew up in Texas, and we went t9 Colorado and New Mexico for vacations... (And the people there had nothing but scorn for us Texicans, I’ve since learned.)

Anyway, yes you’re right... and, in my family, “Like Colorado!” is shorthand for glorious weather.

Actually it belongs to the property owner (I rent), but I have permission to wander around back there.
I'm looking at a spot tucked in amongst the trees to set up a small camp. Nothing elaborate, just a place to pitch a tarp, cook a small meal and enjoy a cuppa.

I've been meaning to jump in on this and kept forgetting. Finally got a pic the other day and today I remembered to post it, now I just have to remember not to miss any other months.
This is the Big Black River. It's on the high side right now due to all the backwater flooding. I plan on paddling this river later in the year once water levels are back to normal.

    Greetings,

Late to the party and nearly out of time. Here is my 1st submission. I am thinking of doing a 360° of my chosen spot. If it is too much and one is enough, let me know @Luchtaine. :)

In under the wire for March!

The backyard will be changing lots in the coming months. I do most of my skills practice here. Even this photo is a couple days old..... no more snow at the moment. :)

I assume this entry works okay @Luchtaine ?

It's been unusually challenging to find time to make it out to my spot the past couple of months. Part of it is, I don't go out there just to take a pic for the month, I go out there to spend some time and do some stuff. that requires a larger time window commitment. But I did find time to make a special trip just to get a pic for the month a couple of days ago, also did a quick scout of my other nearby spots. It did whet my appetite for the place again. And isn't that part of the point of this challenge?

So, here's my March submission. A little more green, Spring is starting its thang. In fact, some of the other areas that got beat out by this spot are showing even more change...

Wow, @Luchtaine, I am really cutting it close this time! This is my March submission. I will update the original post later as well but that feature isn't working right now!

It is getting greener here now and you can't tell from the picture but it was kinda chilly today and there was a slight drizzle of rain coming down.

I almost didn't get a pic for this month as the road to this trail has been closed since the middle of February due to landslides. It's open now though!
