These are not the Mil Spec packs ... more in their trail/mountain category.

I just pulled the trigger on an olive Scree. Figured I'd share the sale if you are in the market:
Thru November 19, 2018 the REI sale is 20% off any 1 regularly priced item.
There are three MR packs marked down by 30%: The Scree, the Cairn, & the Urban Assault.

I bit on the Scree as well. I really like the pack around the house anyway. Taking it out this weekend.

Tempted by the Scree but ended up with the Urban Assault for using around town, overnight trips, etc.
May go back and grab the Scree too!

First thing I noticed is that my zipper pulls jingle ... a bit more than I'd like. I need to fix that somehow. Maybe it won't be bad on my back and walking. I 'll find out tomorrow with a bit of load in it, and will be dialing in the adjustable yoke. Other than that I love the wide open main body compartment (no pockets other than a thin bladder sleeve) think I'll keep my BCUSA poncho stowed in there.

I wish the Scree had the Urban Assaults underside daisy chain.

I agree about the Rip Ruck ... would also love to take the Kletterwerks Drei Zip for a spin. They both really have that old school look.
Hope you pull the trigger on both of them, LOL :16:

Unless I'm mistaken the 20% REI discount can only be used for one full-priced item, not for items on sale.
There's also a 20% off discount for any one item in the REI Outlet, however I don't think you'll find any MR merch in there.
    Just FYI.

You're correct, I tried to sum that up in the title. The 30% disco was all you can get. The 20% pertains to one full priced item at REI. I got my 20% notice a few days before the sale started ... went to look at the packs again at sale time, and the one I wanted was marked down by 30%. :dblthumb: BONUS!

I read several reviews on the Urban Assault over the last few weeks.
Check out what this guy did to silence the zippers.

I think I'm going to go ahead and order the Scree before the sale ends.

So far so good. I walked about 7 miles off trail mushroom hunting today. I had the bag at 'full' capacity today after loading it up with big mushrooms. The jingle was not as noticeable when the bag was loaded and 'puffed out'. However I want to either do the mod you linked, or deaden the metal to metal sound some other way. Just gives me something to play around with before cutting the pulls. The Y shaped zipper pattern worked really nice for me gently loading up the mushrooms today.

Thanks for that urban assault review. Good stuff!

These all look like great packs, thanks for the Heads-Up! :dblthumb: Trying to figure out how I can sneak in a new pack without having to explain why I need a 5th. :4: Maybe I could just say I had a fairly large dividend to spend before the end of the year. ;)
