Roger that. Still looking like the mid January time frame at least?
If anyone is interested, I'm also considering a short smaller/less promoted fall meet if I can figure out a date in between hunting seasons that would work. I'm not able to hunt any longer but I have family that are very serious hunters and I don't want to interfere in any way with there hunting.
I have access to a bush hog now that I can borrow so I'll have the place cleaned up a little better this year. Not that it was a problem last year but sometimes the little underbrush twigs here and there can be aggravating where we're all walking or plan to set up a tent.
ETA: I know some of you guys drive a long ways to make the meets so the winter meet will still be the main meet for the year even IF I have a fall meet.
Probably Feb for the winter meet. I've still got to try to find out when deer season ends but I think it's around the first of Feb.
@ScoutSmith1911 ...this is the one I was talking about the other day...
Damn...February huh.... Well, it's far enough out so I can start planning now.... but no one gets to poke fun at the cold/freezing Florida guy that is outside, in TN, in FEB.....
We keep a big community fire to stay warm by and that's where most everybody hangs out the majority of the time so you won't have trouble staying warm during the day. Night time... ya better come prepared unless ya wanna sleep beside the fire.
Oh, I will damn sure be warm at night...tent, layed sleeping bag system, clothes, beanie, gloves, wool socks.... I got that.
I hear Tim is a great cuddler, or @MONGOlikes candy might get chilly again...
Oh no... if our lives ain't on the line, and you have the same....uh....genetic equipment I do.... that ain't happening...
The only thing I snuggle with in the woods is my mss and a wool blanket, @MONGOlikes candy will just have to make due.
Ya can't believe everything that dang @blind & lost guy says. LOL
I'm in for sure
Awesome, look forward to meeting ya bro!
I don't plan to do any tutorials this year (I'm of course always available to help though) so that I'll be less busy and have more free time & individual time with everyone but if any of you other guys would like to do any tutorials just let me know.
There are always little tutorial/help sessions going on just about around the clock for anyone wishing to learn some skills. We are always very blessed to have some exceptionally skilled bushcrafters at these meets and I've learned more than I could begin to tell.
I would have to look back at the last meets thread to find the exact number but IIRC we had 30 something folks (that's a lot of BCUSA members in one location!) at the last meet. I hope that number grows this year.
Commemorative decals this year Tim?
That would be Freakin' Awesome!
Or patches!! EVeryone LOVES patches!!
I also need a volunteer to be in charge of name tags this year and making sure everyone gets one and puts it on.
I missed the mark on getting them for the last meet.
I'll be asking for volunteers for other things as well as I fully intend for the first time to do some delegating so I can relax at a meet! I've had people graciously offering help at all the meets, it's just not easy for me to accept help but this time I shall try my best.
Patches would be cool, I can have either designed, I can have deals made, Patches would have to be ordered. @MT_Fin would be a good person to ask about making patches. We can take this back channel Tim.
I agree with the patches! Velcro back for my condor hat...
If you get me a list I can get it done
They would have to be handed out at the meet, and not for sale though....Damn....now there's gonna be patches.... I'm going to HAVE to go now....
Either would be cool with me bud. Didn't understand the back channel though?
They would for sure have to be purchased at the meet. The meets aren't sponsored by BCUSA just me.
@Guy did attend last years meet and I hope he will get to join us again this year. It was awesome having a chance to meet him, shake his hand and thank him personally for all he does to keep this place up and running smoothly!
Just in case any of you that haven't been to one of my meets yet isn't already aware... they are always FREE.
A good bit of expense goes into these meets but they are always free and always will be. I cover it all unless any donations are given but I will never ask for any financial assistance, hosting these meets is one of the ways I enjoy giving back to BCUSA.
Numerous people have donated at each meet (some have offered and I refused because everything was already covered). @hamanky amazingly and very generously auctioned one of his custom knives for the last meet which covered the expense of the porta potty's and was a HUGE help.
From the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency web site.
We live in Unit L.
"If" I'm reading it correctly it doesn't look like there are any openings between the seasons and that the seasons don't end until after Jan 12th?
This is awesome to see! Missed out on the last winter meet and the fall '16 meet due to being a new transplant to middle Tennessee and life got in the way (and still is - curse you responsibilities ).
Hope you get to make this one bud, we'd love to have ya join us.
Once we set the date I'll add the RSVP button to the OP (post #1) and ask everyone that plans to attend to PLEASE click the button. That way everyone will be able to see who plans to attend and it will help me not only to plan for the meet but to keep track of how many plan to attend. I'll announce this again when I add the button.
PS. Clicking the RSVP button doesn't by any means lock anyone into attending, it just lets me know for sure who and how many "plan" to attend. If things come up (as they do sometimes in life) and you can't make it you can always edit and remove yourself from the RSVP list.
That's cool then I can make badges
It was a new feature added to the forum software last year and it worked great. It automatically puts everyone's name that plans to attend all in one place which is very helpful! That way I don't have to scan through numerous pages of the thread trying to remember or figure out who plans to attend and who doesn't and manually keep up a list.
Saves me whole bunches of time.
Hey now, I'm working on better a setup.
Good to hear from you MONGO! Look forward to sharing some more dirt time with ya bud.
Mongo may get chilly, but he ain't 'gettin Chili'!!
I read this as dirty time and got worried lol
The rspv for this event was expired
But I fixed it up, so y'all CLICK RSVP -add yourself and write whatever
That's strange, I didn't add it as I was going to just wait till the date was set. LOL Guy must have.
That's cool though, you can always remove yourself when the date is set if you won't be able to make it.
LOL I usually refer to the meets as Dirt Time In TN.
lol I re read and saw that
You're not as far off as I thought, I'm going to have a talk with the wife and see if she will sign my permission slip! Sounds like fun!
That would be great Rick, the meets are always tons of fun! If you need a doctors note just tell her Doc Tim said you need a dose of TN Dirt Time.
Do it! I had never been out and decided about a week before the Feb 2017 meet to go and had a blast. I still talk about it! Over 30 people and all of them super nice and friendly. You will not regret it. I had just moved to East TN in Nov 2016 as well.
I already hit the RSVP button but I really look forward to the gathering and hope I can contribute more this time. Thank you very much for hosting Tim. All of us really appreciate it.
You're very welcome brother, I look forward to seeing you again!
As much fun as backpacking, traversing new terrain, and practicing woodsman skills are by oneself sometimes, enjoying the outdoors with like-minded people is always a pleasure. I would also like to thank you for holding this event, Mr. Pollock.
Awesome, look forward to meeting ya bud and you're very welcome!
James! Good to hear from you brother. When I told Jake that Tim was planning the next meet he asked if you were coming.
These meets are like a yearly family reunion... only Waaaay Better! I have a few family members that I wouldn't walk across the yard to see and if I did it'd be to throw a rock at 'em. LOL
Well, that explains why you were throwing chunks of firewood at a few of us last winter
LOL You is family for sure brother and I promise not to throw anymore firewood at ya this year!
Thanks for using the RSVP button (in post #1) for me guys, that's a tremendous help to me in being able to keep track of who all plans to attend so I can make sure I have everything we need taken care of.
