Christmas 1973 I received the Daisy Buffalo Bill Scout as a present, one of the coolest BB guns I remember having as a young boy, side loading, action just like a real Winchester, what more could a young boy want to explore the woods around the property where we were living at the time.
    0D2A0A35-71F2-43DD-9DB8-EAEB8394C13D.jpeg
During the time we lived there I spent a lot of time in the woods making forts, hunting birds, tin cans, pine cones or whatever I could get a bead on with my Daisy Winchester, during my adventures one day I sat the gun down, against a tree more than likely, I lost it, never to be found and forgotten, my father passed away that October 1975, my mom purchased a house in town and we moved off the property in January 1976, fast forward to 1992, my wife noticed a for sale sign on the property as she drove by one day, I had told her many times about how much fun I had had there as a boy and wished one day I could own the place, we purchased the place and we built our home here and raised our boys here and now enjoy our grandkids here when they come to visit, fast forward again to yesterday, I was walking on the property and happened to see something on the ground in the sun, this was an old farm and there’s always something coming to the surface, broken glass, little rusty bits etc, but at closer inspection it appeared to be a rife receiver, as poked and dug around some I thought surely not, but yep, as I pulled it up from the dirt I realized it was my old Daisy, in what was once and old fence row I had pushed up with a dozer twenty years or so ago, the butt stock is long gone, the rust worms have been hard at work but it still resembles a Winchester, I thought it was neat that you could still read the writing on the receiver, anyway what’s the chances of that happening huh, long story about an old rusty forgotten toy, but I thought it was kind of a neat story and thought I would share .

Now that is a real experience! First of all, can't believe you were able to buy your childhood home, and finding that rifle is icing on the cake.
What a flood of memories that must have provided. Great story, thanks for sharing.

I’ve always felt blessed to be able to own this place, I’m the youngest of six and I can only remember living in town until we moved out her to the country, my dad loved this place, he was a poor country boy and finally had a place he could hunt, fish, he had chickens, a big garden, I believe he was truly happy out here, we made a lifetime of memories on this place and I can still go out and sit buy a tree with my old squirrel rifle and know he’s close by watching and listening with me.

I would clean it up a bit and build a hanging plaque for it and hang it on the wall. What a cool story.

A family heirloom now. Putting it on a plaque and sharing the tale with your kids, and grandkids would be a great piece of family history perhaps.

Amazing story! You should clean it up and mount it on a wall plaque. The story alone is worth a million bucks!

Really great your old friend revealed himself to you! I bet that air rifle brings back good memories. I have a rifle that is very similar. My Grand Dad gave it to me in the early eighties. My version has an octagonal barrel.
