Flint striker knife made today from a Nicholson file. Blade is just under 3 inches, OAL about 7 inches. Differential HT so that the top of the handle throws plenty of sparks. This was made per request and is just the 2nd I have made of this style, but I really like it. It feels good in the hand, throws plenty of sparks and the blade is just the right size for many tasks. I will be adding 1 to my kit and hope to have others available before long.

Price for this size and style will be $48 shipped if interested ordering.

That's a pretty cool looking blade and seems to be a nice size for a necker or haversack blade.

That looks really good. Posting here so I can circle back when I inevitably convince myself that I absolutely must have one.

    That is truly beautiful.
Are you taking orders or do you just sell as you make them?

Please consider one sold when you get it done.
That is if you accept USPS money orders as payment. ID theft years ago done away with the paypal account...

The temptation is sooo real. I've been aching for one for years, and tax returns are looking like they might do me some good...

    Thanks, Luke

I traded a hand made carving knife for the rocks, and yes, sparks aplenty! I was going to cook up a batch of charcloth yesterday but the wifey whipped out the honeydo list...:(
I'm very pleased with the striker knife!
Thanks for doing business with me Eddie!

I had a chance to make some charcloth last week. I just put the Altoid tin on the coals of the grill.
I was a little nervous since I have never done it before. It turned out perfectly!
It was really windy yesterday outside so I didn't get to actually build a fire, but after several attempts (it was the archer, not the arrow...:(), I got an ember!
So stoked to have actually gotten this far!
Next I'll actually blow an ember in to flame in a tinder bundle.

Took me over 50 years to catch that first spark and then start a fire. Nice going!

Must have been beginners luck for me. It did take quite a few tries, but like I said, I've never done it before.
I was very excited when the charcloth started glowing!

I'm sure it would not have taken me as long as it did if I had the mentors available on this website. We didn't HAVE websites...well, except maybe when I started getting closer to 50. No mentors, no tutorials.

In addition, making bowdrill fires was magical. Hand drill fires were only made by Mythological Beings.

So, now that I am both magical and a "Mythological Being," I look back on my days of flint and steel attempts with fondness...and congratulate all those who are successful.

I find that heat treated rock really work better than raw rock when throwing a spark. I cook rock in an old turkey roaster and beach sand.

Very nice knives, They would look good on a back quiver.
