What a great weekend! I got all of my favorite activities in. I cut out of work at 11:00 am on friday and drove up to my stomping grounds in the PA wilderness. I hit the western end of the rail trail, which parallels a state designated "wild and scenic river" and biked 6 miles in, which gets you that far from the nearest road. I brought both Tenkara and UL spinning gear and periodically hopped off the bike to explore the stream. This was one of the pools I found. This pool and others gave up chain pickerel. Though I tried equally with Tenkara flies and spinning gear, spinning tackle ruled the day. I spotted a number of fallfish in a different pool and managed to catch one of those as well. On Saturday morning, I attended an NRA High Power match, as I do on many weekends. This particular one was the club's annual "Medal Match". I ended up shooting my best offhand stage ever with a 198/200 and won the match with a 788/800. Woot! This was my offhand target, with 20 shots in a 3.5" group. I hurried home from the match since three of my neighbors and I had taken trees down recently, and we all went in to rent a stump grinder that day. My neighbors had wrapped up on the first two properties and were starting on the third neighbor's stumps when I made it over with a rake. We hit my house last. In the evening, we all shared brewskies around a camp fire.
