I picked up this knife used and it appeared that it had been worked hard for some time. I did some refurbishment and I like the way it is looking now. I have not seen another A/S Classic with a 5-inch blade and I am wondering if many were made. I would also like to know what year it was made if that information is available - I believe it is #231. I would appreciate any info anyone might have on this knife. Thanks.

You're right, it is #231. I would be able to tell the day I made it, but my computer with that information is my old desktop and I've been having issues with it. It's years old, that's for sure. Not many like that made. Only one other I believe.

Cody, did that eventually morph into the Explorer or Mountaineer?

Thank you for the reply and confirmation. If you are ever able to access that info and happen to remember this thread, I would really appreciate learning more about this knife.

Has the look of a early mountaineer with its slight curve and deeper fore finger dip in the handle deff a diffrent look.

    GRATS.
