Thanks, and yes, I still have her. She's not doing too well though, she's in bits and pieces at the moment and I'm not entirely sure I'll get her back on the road again to be honest. It's hard to get parts for a 30 year old bike that was only on the market for 3 years in the western world.

It's a US bike by the way, imported to NL in the early 90's. The Nighthawk S only came out in this color scheme in the US in the year '86 so it's fairly rare over here.

At the moment I only have an TW 200, but I'm a sucker for adventure and dual sport style bikes. For the money those KLR 650, Xr650L, and Suz 400 DRZ bikes are the most practical bang for the buck to be had. I'm seriously wanting the Honda

A few more as I sit here and watch the snowbanks slowly dwindle in my ft yard.
Think I'll sneak out tomorrow for a ride.

Here is one I'm building out of a Harley Sportster.
All new home made frame, DOM swingarm, KTM suspension, sun rims with Buchanon spokes, etc.... should be a ton of fun!

That looks like a fun project and fun ride. Building a frankenbike is on my bucket list but too many irons in the fire... I definitely want to see some pics of that when you are done!

    Central Idaho's Custer Motorway loop.

Unable to make the loop due to deep snow..

Completely off the roadway, down a steep embankment. Took a couple hours to get the big pig back on the dirt road.

Here is my CRF250. I bought it last Oct. These pics are from Nov. Second last day of riding before winter hit.
I added a luggage rack this spring, and it if would ever quit freezing here every night, I'd be able to post a spring pic.

Anyone on this board ride along #2 Sandpoint to Spokane or further south along 195 and 12 toward Walla Walla?
I'm toying with the idea of a trip along these ways.
Any nice side trips/dirt/gravel adventure to be found ?

I'm close by but I only have an TW200. Just not enough juice and too cramped for those distances.

If you go in summer there's some too rides in the area.

Any of you have any thoughts on the Yamaha Super Tenere? I'm making myself feel better about parting with my cash by looking at the big $ bikes. This way if I buy the KLR650, I'll feel better. Make any sense?
I should just buy my buddies Heritage Softail and put knobbies on it.

Picked up my Tenere as a leftover, added the 4 year Yam. warranty that puts coverage to 2020. It's a great touring bike with a few necessary improvements, the seat was replaced with a Sargeant, winglets and a bigger screen. My longest day was around 1100 miles and it's easy to pull 500. it's not a DR or KLR but loves logging rds and slab. There is some well set up S10s for a bargain if you look around, yes it's heavy could use a little more bag but I have been more than happy with it. The biggest question to ask yourself is" what type of riding am I going to do the most" .

Dude that is sweet! Looks like a desert sled. I had a couple KZ400's I bought to build into something like that. Sold on and still have one that I think would be fun to convert. Pretty cool. I would be interested in more photos of the process. Did you post them somewhere?

Here is mine, a DRZ400S that I bought new in 2000. Replaced the forks a few weeks back, rejetted the carb, added the case guards and skid plate, added the hand guards, removed all the dead weight, and also have a new shock coming in next week. Been a good bike.

Very cool! Now that's the kind of stuff people should be doing with Sportsters, that's their true heritage. I could never figure out why the PTB at the factory in the last few decades didn't take advantage of the Sportster's very narrow engine/tranny package and come up with some kind of cool dual sport machine. Anyway, hoping to see some finished pics of your project. Nice work.

It was there for the ride. Good eye. That was a first run green Glock 10mm that someone ended up buying for a crazy amount of $$ for on gunbroker in bidding war, after they quit making them for a while.

I've got an TW200 and an old Yamaha 350 Big Wheel. I really need an bigger bike for dual sporting. Something simple and not so spendy as are the KTM bikes.

Will be looking at one tomorrow. Maybe I'll pick one up.

Man - it's been a long Spring up here in the Northeast, rode a few times to work and was able to take a nice rip over to N.H but I am ready for a weekend trip.
