Army-issued canvas bag, 2014 Unless somebody posts pics of even older bags in active use ASAP, I'm going to entitle myself to a prize of one (1) beer for spotting a pre-WW2 canvas bag in use by an uniformed member of military forces. This here is a Finnish army frameless canvas backpack, essentially the same model as issued in the 1930s, attached to a Ranger/LRP team leader (reserve officer) candidate. Picture is from last summer. Brings back memories, although I sincerely believed 15 years ago that we'd be the last group to be burdened with these... ha, fool me, should have known better! These were issued to be used as day packs, in which capacity they're at least useful. I'm guessing they're still serving the same function. I guess our Russian members could top this with Vesmeshok pics, but I'm still claiming that beer.
