Dang, @weedeater64 , don't hold back. Tell us what you really think. If I find something difficult to watch, I do not.

OK, see you an the prayers & smoke section.

Seriously though, hollywood brainwashing has to be monitored no matter how unpleasant. It is important to know what sort of garbage is being pumped into malleable and vulnerable young minds in order to combat it.

You did not quote my most important point. If I find something difficult to watch, I do not watch it.

I agree that mainstream media is largely drivel and driven to the lowest common denominator. I disagree that hollywood brainwashing has to be monitored. For decades, I watch and listen to a wide variety of views that I do not agree with, just so I am better informed. I certainly do not like the things I do not like (that one was easy!). I support the right of media to make things that others may or may not like. Those that use a television, vote with your channel knob. If you don't like something, don't buy their advertiser/sponsored products. All of (USA) television exists because of advertising.

Where is everyone getting Mongolia from? Regardless it's high mountain prairie and sure looks pretty.

I can guarantee it's in the Northern hemisphere as I had a phone interview with Leftfield a couple days ago and it was the fall into winter cycle.

Seasons 1 and 4 aired in June, season 2 in April. Probably going to be around that time frame for season 5. Expect to start seeing the trailers for it in two or three months, maybe?

Season 3 aired in December, but took place in the southern hemisphere which has opposite weather seasons.

Haha... I know, right? Starting to feel the Alone Anxiety creeping up.

I joined this forum just to get in on the discussion for season 3.

Came for Alone, stayed to learn some skillz.

For those of us with symptoms of lack of Alone Show here is some Mitch talking season 1:
Alone talk starts about 55:00 or so.

It looks like the casting call for Alone season 6 went out in mid February, so hopefully season 5 will be out soon.

Saw the first commercial last night during the men who built America. It said Mongolia and showed someone being carried on a stretcher.

Awww... the down side of watching shows on Amazon Prime. No commercials.

Cool that you've made the first sighting, though.

I'm not seeing anything on Facebook, Twitter or Youtube yet.

MONGOLIAAAA! So, our first speculations were correct.

Sadly, I received my cable guide for April, and a new season of Alone is not there. May or June, unless they change their schedule.

Turn up the volume. When Mike coughs towards the end it sounds like Larry yelling in distress on the commercial.

Smiley face for sarcasm......but those that do better are more likely to promote the show. I actually don't even think he is on the show, and really hope he isn't as I don't want to hear about missing Barbara anymore.

    No insider information here.

Yeah, he got messed up with the Barbara thing. He caved to the aloneness. Too bad, he's a skilled survivalist. Had the best boat out of anyone, I think. And he was well on his way to having a fully furnished apartment, at the rate he was making furniture and fixtures.

Still, seems a little odd... he's completely off the radar and now pops up as the first one to post the trailer for season 5.

The last segment of The Men who Built America: Frontiersman that aired on History on Monday included a promotion for Alone in Mongolia coming this summer.

I remember reading that he mentally checked out of trying to make it for the long haul when he found out pre-show the limited hunting they were allowed. He decided to do 21 days to show he could do it, but no point in force starvation was his thinking. If so, I can't imagine Mike ever wanting to be on the show again.

Mongolia just does not seem a great choice to
    me . Mostly known for
    People leaving .
Early Americans via the land bridge .
Ghengis Khan leaving and over running the known world .
My impression is a vast sea of grass . Fine if you have a large herd of horses whose blood and
mares milk you can drink but pretty slim pickings without herd animals .
I just don’t think I can take a bunch of people slowly starving .

    random thoughts..

be interesting to see how and if gear list changes..i hope it does change a bit to give folks a bigger outside the box thinking type items..and just some silly items added to see if someone would go for a item thats very non conventional.

i am pretty clueless about mongolia..i would die probably...lol

will we see folks catching fish? i knew a type grayling and trout were there but didnt know siberian salmon were. i knew they harvested pine nuts, but know if its in one region or in all areas where trees are found. dont know time frame for that harvest other than in 'summer'.could we see folks gather a lot of these type things and thrive? on happy people they used a big wooden mallet to pound side of tree to collect pine cones to get then nuts. i assume these nuts have a good portion of oils in them.theres sturgeon there as well in some places.

i hope they let them hunt deer at least..be cool to see someone harvest something especially a red stag.

not sure what gear i would take..if not able to hunt then bow would be out, unless they get on smaller rivers and could bow fish some.

cant wait to see and find out more....!!

I am really hoping that switching to Mongolia for season 5 results in a better balance between hunting and fishing as a source for protein. I am guessing that gill nets will be a less favored selection and bow-arrows will be a much more popular choice. Obviously, hunting only becomes a reasonable alternative if the local laws allow a decent selection of game to be taken. Also aside from hunting, Mongolia is supposed to have some good fishing in some of its rivers.

I am also hopeful that the selection of Mongolia will open up the amount of area the contestants are allowed to wander in. Potentially, this could result in some contestants adopting a more nomadic strategy, moving camp when local resources do not meet their needs. We have already seen a limited amount of this, like when Larry switched sites in season 2. Obviously, that assumes moving the camera gear is not too challenging.

    Ah, ok... thanks.

"Grass land and shrubland covers 55 percent of the country"

Looks like they must have been in some kind of grassy shrub land area, judging by the one little peek in that teaser.

Or, at least one of them was.

Not all of Mongolia is grassland and badlands. Northern Mongolia near the Russian border has beautiful mountain streams and it reminds me a lot of Montana.

I don't know if this applies to this Alone show but I know that there's some filming going on aroun Haines Alaska. Production crew is renting my uncles house.

Saw the new commercial on Pawn Stars a couple of time last night. Definitely Carleigh Fairchild and Brooke Whipple. Really surprised at Brooke. She said in Season 4 that she didn't like being alone and couldn't wait for Dave to get there. I also saw Larry Roberts and Dave Nessia. I think the guy laying on the ground was Jose Martinez Amoedo, but not as sure. One picture may have been Nicole Apelian. Could have been an odd angle shot of Brooke. Still two unidentified. The guy that felled the tree in the first scene, and the guy sitting beside the fire with his hand in front of his face.

Jameson, I shared the video on my page when Mike Lowe posted it, and Facebook took it down without any notification, but probably for copyright. You could have copied it here yourself, right?

BTW, this commercial also says Season 5 starts Thursday, June 14th. I'm guessing a new season of Mountain Men should start the same day.

i wonder if dave will bring his bow...in my searching around there seems to be huge duck and geese populations there. dave could score on them possibly among other things. yall ever see the bird arrow that has 4 small snares on it before.i never used them or seen them used..

one thing for sure...probably very little trash findings for this show..maybe a vodka bottle?

cant wait to see gear list.

hopefully this commercial will be up soon so we can see it a few times.

Huh... I was gonna' post an "LOL" at that, but taking a quick look first reveals alcoholism in Mongolia is a serious problem.

    https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=112485545

"Mongolia has one shop selling alcohol for every 270 people, the highest number anywhere in world."
