If that's what it is, it reminds me of Fowler's story staff. :)

I feel like Nathan is going home but hope not. There isn't much teaser footage of him in the frigid cold like Jordan, Barry, and Woniya.

They should have handicapped Jordan some how so it was fair for everyone else.

    J/k

Everyone was very skilled no doubt, but that brother is already home. How much longer do you think he stays if he wins?

What ever happens, I think this has been the best season for being able to exercise skills. There is food there and the contestants were pretty darn successful at getting it.

This has been the best season for contestants actually demonstrating skills and not just conserving energy to see who loses weight the slowest.

I do hope they have some actual tests to determine medical jeopardy besides BMI. The body has a mechanism to convert muscle tissue into glucose/carb energy (i.e., gluconeogenesis). Yes, you lose muscle mass, but it isn't necessarily threatening to your long term health. So I hope there is more than just medical speculation when they pull contestants.

I can only assume they are also watching the video work and know to some degree what their actual food intake is, Barry's result may be part of this, they knew he was not taking in the extra nourishment one would need. The other three were showing at least some food intake, this all topped off with the regular pound a day weight loss.

My understanding was that Dave Nessia was pulled for low blood pressure, not BMI. Have to wait and see what the reason was for Barry. Losing 80 pounds has to be a record for the show, but they did not mention BMI when they were pulling him.

where there's smoldering smoke......there's fire or clever editing misdirection yet again.

Assuming you are correct- down to Jordan and Woniya or one frozen lake trout vs. three squirrels.

That looks like Nathan's shelter to me. I'm glad he's still in it. This is a great final 3, IMHO. Love the skills they're all getting to show this season!

How did Jordan run out of fish hooks?- I think he said that earlier on IIRC. This season has been best Active fishing IMO since @Pict .
I would think that active ice fishing would have been productive as well as fast as that lake drops off to very deep depths.

Modified Muti tools sure proving their worth in the season / environment.

he didnt run out of hooks...he said that it was 'my last good hook... J hook' ..i am assuming he means circle hooks.

i seen a conversation on net talking about it and jordan said correct he was not out of hooks.

i went back and listened again to get it exact what he said in quotes above...BUT...they are putting audio together.

Contestants have said they get a stipend... they are not allowed to say how much. The hint is that it is enough to cover basic bills back home while they are gone. So, the anger they are there, the longer the cash flows. Those with really low incomes at the time, may "make out" and those with really high paying jobs probably take a cut. That's just a guess.

No. Where is the video? I have looked on YouTube and can't find it. Is it in one of Nathan's backstory videos? Haven't had time to watch them.

Woniya is finally showing drastic weight loss. I figure a fire gets Nathan, and BMI gets woniya; Jordan for the win by a nose ...

if jordan had all those rabbits on his vest and then made a door covered in rabbit fur also to insulate it just how many rabbits did he catch? its gotta be more than on a vest...30-40 or more in total he caught? i cant wait to hear him and others tell total game and fish caught.

It's Jordan's to lose...A moose, wolverine, a bunch of rabbits, and now he is netting fish under the ice. Most contestants get knocked out at this stage due to a lack of nurishment...Jordan has that in spades. As long as he can avoid injury, or burning down his hut, I don't see how he can lose.

Woniya on the other hand, is one tough lady. Squeezing out excrement from frozen rabbit entrails and then eating them??? Never been in her situation but I'm not sure I could do that.

Whoever comes in 2nd, or 3rd, should not hang their head this year...nothing to be ashamed of.

Nothing but respect for the final three. With the weather conditions they’re facing and only 4-5 hours of daylight each day, it’s got to be brutal.

I'm finding myself looking forward to two things this coming week. John Wick 3 coming out on DVD so I can finally see it and the last episode of Alone. :42:

Edit: It looks like John Wick 3 doesn't come out until next month. :( Either the date changed or I'm completely off the mark. But I've been watching the release date for a couple of months.

I'm going to go against the flow a bit here and speculate that the fire is Jordan's shelter. Nathan in his videos has said that he had over 200 sq ft under roof. Perspective can be deceptive, but the burn doesn't look quite that big to me. Nathan has also shown his axe from the show and mentioned on the Facebook group that he brought a whole bunch of his bow drill fire boards back. Those are not things that I'd expect to survive a major fire. Jordan has shown his hare vest, but he might well have been wearing that at the time of a fire.

Jordan has done so many things that have endeared him to the bushcraft community, it is easy to see him as the strongest/most deserving participant. He certainly made great use of the resources in his area and what he brought. Watching Nathan's YT videos gave me a different perspective on who he is and what his skill set is. He hasn't gotten a lot of "screen time" because he didn't give them some of the emotional moments that the others did. Take those times out of the others screen time and I'll be it even outs. I think he is a much stronger player than he's been presented on the show.

If it did come down to Wonyia and Nathan it would be a tough call. Wonyia not having an axe should have put her at a disadvantage ice fishing, but I believe she was shown chipping ice with some kind of tool. Stone tipped stick? Also her traps were mostly spring poles with a ground peg required. The rocks gave her few places she could get those pegs in and once the deep freeze was there, even that option is out. Neither she nor Nathan had actual trapping experience before the show although both had studied trap mechanics. If she does get some fishing holes cut and scores some fish, she's in the game.

It was mentioned on the FB group that when it got really cold, the remaining contestants were told not to use their cutting tools after dark since they could not do night-time rescues. A sobering thought for anyone with hypothermia potential (or a major shelter fire!). There has been some speculation on FB that if the cold got any worse, the production team might just shut it down when they get down to 2 and declare co-winners, not wanting to take the chance of someone slipping into hypothermia and either not getting a call or not being able to get to them in time. That would be more likely if they did have difficulty getting to the person who has the fire before they got dangerously cold.

All this is speculation, of course, and I'm certain I've missed some clues that might point me in a different direction. Any of the three remaining would be a worthy winner. You could say the same about most if not all of the original 10. Shuffle the locations and there likely would be a different winner, but that we will never know...at least by Thursday night we will know who pulled it together the best. (Unless they pulled the last 2 and haven't told them how they are handling it yet.)

Listening to Barry in that last episode, I was worried that he had hypothermia & dehydration. He was was clearly lethargic and he was slurring his speech. Clear warning signs. When he spread his legs and bent over to get water from that bay, I thought he was a goner for sure. I liked his spirit & determination, and he's clearly got skills, but I was glad when they pulled him. Darkness and cold are creeping in and the risks are definitely getting huge.

The final three deserve huge props for all they've accomplished. Any one of them could win it, IMHO. I'm cheering for them all, and plan to watch all their Alone related videos to learn more about their experiences. I'd love to see a woman win it. Or, as someone said in the short-lived "New ALONE show" thread, I'd love to see a “Token female participant” win it. ;) All 3 of them did great, IMHO, and Woniya is looking strong, though thin.

I stopped the teaser video for this week and ran it slow. The person at the fire doesn’t look like Jordan. Can’t really tell though.

i looked at woniya chopping the ice in both clips of her doing so..i gotta say it looks to me as if she is using her silky saw in closed position to do. if you look careful it looks like the adjusting/tightening/locking knob thing is sticking out on the end striking the ice.

if jordan used more rabbit fur to cover door i wonder if he used the moose hide to cover the shelter or as a blanket too?

also...we are not getting the whole story as we all know.notice open water in background....musta been early on.
