@Shone will be there.
Well. I have pigs. And i can make one ready to cook if anyone wants to take care of that.
As the meet gets closer, we'll probably post a food thread to see what guys want.
I've officially registered. It will be fun to see old and new faces. And get another tshirt.
For those that didn't attend in 2015, this is what Tactical 10/22 is all about:
So I thought I would explain what I had in mind for 'Tactical 10/22' by posing this question:
What would you think about having to engage multiple targets from multiple shooting positions while shooting over, under, around, and through various pieces of cover? All with a rimfire rifle.
If this interests you, read on. If not, you really need help. Take off those skinny jeans and renew your Man-Card for goodness' sake.
Any rimfire rifle would do. The course will be set up so that someone with a 14 round tube magazine will be able to go through all stages without reloading. If you have your own 10/22, all the better. I have two 10/22's and five (25) round magazines that I will share if you don't have one. You will simply have to supply the ammo. If you happen to be flying in from Alaska, I'll supply your ammo.
Let me know what you think or if you have any questions.
P.S. - I imagine that at least one person will ask about using an AR-15 for this course. Unfortunately, the answer is no unless you have a rimfire conversion kit. We'll be using steel targets and the standoff distance with an AR means we could only use one range at a time. With rimfire, the standoff is much closer, so we can have both ranges operating at the same time. Open range on one, Tactical 10/22 on the other.
Well brother I am planning to come and not allow this to keep me down. I have a renewed spirit in the new me. And I may be down that way around that time getting treatment so I would just stay over. Just need to use a guest cabin possibly but if I can I will camp. Not allowing his to tear me down. And I want to do the tactical 22 course!
Unless a large influx of cash happens, likely not making it this year. Not having financial issues as much as I am purchasing a lot of new guitar, band and recording gear. That said, hope you guys have an amazing time. Last year was outstanding. I'll likely have most of this stuff bought and have the excess funds to make it out again next year.
We'll have a place for you.
I'm in! Coming up on Wednesday so I can be there for the carbine class. I will not be bringing the meat radar or Bosapah. He'll be working seven days a week at that point.
The pig roast last year was @Bosapah show and I was just his side kick. If @Skab want's or needs an assistant I'll be more then happy to do/bring whatever needs to be done.
Glad you can make it. I'll let you and Skab decide on the pig roast. It was delicious, but a lot of work for the guys involved.
I think the milk can dinner is a no-brainer as long as we can get @rphumble to guide us along.
We'll be looking forward to you attending in 2018
Well if everything goes according to plans I will be able to make it this year. Depending how I feel. I will have treatment that following week so I will fly back home and fly to Chicago to start cycle 4 then only 2 to go but that can change. But I will be there for the onion rings. Can't have any adult beverages what so ever one med I take can kill me with alcohol. But that's ok I'm in it for the onion rings anyways!
Don't forget I learned Everything I know about milk can dinner from Skab. Hows that go " I taught you everything you know. NOT everything I know." or is it "The blind leading the blind." If I guide the way. I forget. I am planning on being there.
I am going to try to get Tom back to do a few classes.
That would push me over the top. Hope it happens
I am pleased to announce that we have added another class and another guest instructor to the schedule. The topic will be hare snaring basics, the instructor will be our friend to the north, @Cro.
Photos flat-out stolen from his blog - http://www.americangrouch.com/2015/01/hare-snaring-basics.html
My heart is full.
Well I may have to crawl down the hill but I will be here. I look forward to meeting my brothers who I have yet to meet! Plus I can't wait to have that creamed corn again!
Planning on attending again this year. Sounds like another great event.
I'd love to make it, but we are a little new-house poor this year. How long do I have to decide and still register?
We will take you up to the last minute, but we will need to know by mid-October in order to receive a t-shirt.
Thanks Kurt! We just went through the finances and it's not looking good for me this year. Hopefully next year... I hope you guys have a great time.
We updated the T-shirt artwork and have corrected the spelling error from last year. We'll probably go with long sleeves. There aren't enough people signed up yet to place an order, so we will hold off for a couple of weeks. If you know you are gong to sign up, it would help us out if you did it sooner than later so we know what to plan for.
I am not seeing the sign up on the 88T website. Can someone point me in the right direction. I would definitely be interested in the level 2 pistol class if that's still a possibility on Friday.
Oktoberfest beer barrel is go
Check 11/3 in the training calendar:
Are there any birch trees on 88 Tactical's facilities?
I would really like to try some chaga tea and lighting birch bark with a ferro rod.
I live just over 1 hr away from this and won't be able to make it. You guys are killing me.
I can bring you some of each.
Thank you, Steve. If the folks running this event weren't such slackers, they would have answered themselves. But, you did a great job filling in. Much appreciated.
No sir....I take that back, there may be one, but I don't think the boss wants it stripped of bark. I have never seen chaga in this area, even on Birch trees. Probably something to do with the weather or soil? Anyway, Cro brought a big supply the last time he was down and there is probably still some of that around.
I was hoping you would make it. Next time, then.
Thank you Jim! I'm sure that Gumbi/Andy will really appreciate it. I know several of us are looking forward to the snaring lesson.
Thanks! You are very generous!
We have a few River Birch on the property, but not the Paper Birch you're most likely thinking of. River Birch bark will take a spark and burn well, but it's not the same. If you want to give River Birch a try, just look in your neighbors yards. They are used a lot in suburban landscaping.
One month out, you boys. Please have your next level lies and anecdotes ready.
Put my request in at the new job... If I get it approved I will be there.
Is this the artist formerly know as Jake?
You know it. Can't let u boys have all the fun.
I can taste the onion rings now!
If I get Loden to come you better keep your hands in your pockets.
Ha! No ER trips. Self administered aid only, under time and technical pressure from Terry and Nick.
I'm headed up tomorrow to scout out the parachute camp. It's been so warm and wet lately that it still looks like summer in the woods, complete with chest high nettles. Everyone may have to put those Serchetes to work!
Sounds like there will be nettle tea and natural cordage to make!
I went up to camp and snapped a few photos. It's needs work, just like it always does at the end of the summer.
The hawk block and bridge are rock solid.
Camp's a little grown over
Spent time outside this shelter last year at 3 o'clock in the morning helping @HardBall with a counselling session while at the same time trying to wrangle another happy camper back into his hammock.
Last but not least, 'Ol King Nicholas. His eyes are missing because the real King Nicholas hasn't been seen in this camp for a long time.
Was there ever a firm confirmation on whether Tom Lutyens was going to be able to attend?
Terry is handling that and he has been swamped at work. I'm sure he'll post when he knows one way or the other.
King Nicholas needs to phone home
Ok it is October 10th, time for folks to get registered and get the meal's selection going. This is going to be a special event this year believe me, a once in a lifetime event. If you snooze you lose! Trust me!
And I am going to be there with all I have in me. This happens after my 3rd treatment and days before my 4th treatment. I will get home Tuesday only to fly out Thursday for treatment again.
But it is ok because less people mean more onion rings for me and the rest!
