    Hello gents, :)

I started on an arrow for my recurve bow I've been playing with. The shaft is an old arrow shaft that the vanes came off of. I watched some YT vids and I decided to try and mame one.

I sanded it and burned a few marks in with the torch. Then I dyed the shaft with Black Walnut dye and BLO. I screwed up with the nock. I didn't go against the grain and ended up splitting the grain a little. I got the nock done and wrapped it up with some leg sinew I harvested from my brothers deer.
I got some tail fan feathers from my Tom last year. I tried to make pine pitch but it didn't turn out too well. I super glued the feathers on and sinewed them on.

I did clean up the sinew and made it look better. The arrow looks good on my bow though. I need to singe the fletchings to make it semi symmetrical.

The bow, my Dad got from my Great Great Uncle Junior ( whom I was named after).

45# @ 28". I put jute string silencers and made my own string for the archery merit badge. It shoots off the shelf and I even put my own string nock on.

What I need is some flint arrowheads. I think I have the pine pitch figured out and I have leg sinew. I can pay for shipping or I can try to trade. I don't know too much about flint arrow heads sizes but I've seen prices and sizes online. Wow! :eek:I said if I'm paying for that I'll try and get them here.

Thank you for gandering and the help!!! Feel free to criticize and comment!!;)

Great work. I shoot primitive metal points but not knapped. I might of put a few wraps of sinew down in the nock as well. That’s a good looking arrow though ol boy

I've got a couple glass points over here I'd part with...they're not real pretty (like most of my knapping, lol ;)) but they would probably work OK. Send me a PM. Note: stone/glass points tend to break really quickly if actually used!

Another option, get yourself a small roundish rock and an antler tine, some beer bottle bottoms or TV screen glass, and make some points yourself! Basically, this is how I learned to knap as a kid.

I found this post looking for knappers on this site. I'm trying to get back into the hobby after a 20 year break. Did you check this site for purchase? Not sure what you consider pricey, but this guy is the real deal. I saw some flints for $10.00 on his site.
