As we went into the grocery today the galpal announces that she wants an atlatl... doesn’t want to make one (nor do I). Can an atlatl be purchased? Any recommendations?

Three Rivers Archery has them in their catalog.

Tried a home made one once, they are kinda fun. Takes more practice than a bow to hit anything consistently. In some states they are legal for archery season.

It’s a considered want for her. She brought a guest speaker to her class to demo flint napping and among the other things they played with a played with an atlatl. The speaker made all of his tools and I guess that’s the norm of it. She made it clear that she didn’t want to make it, but who knows it might become a project for summer break.
Thanks for all the input and suggestions. I’ll forward the info along!

Does she want just the atlatl or the atlatl with darts? Just curious.

Some historical attractions sell them. I don’t know if you have any near you, but the one called Meadowcroft in my area sells them. If she wants to throw I recommended trying to make the darts they can get real pricey.
