Does anyone know where you can find/buy an axe sharpening gauge?
There's one you can cut of the "Axe to Grind" pamphlet on the forest service website.
I bet you've already got the .pdf
Hmmm.... If I just print off the page and cut it out, will it be to scale?
Just make sure you are printing at 100% setting. Anything else and the size will change.
it doesn't matter, its just an angle right?
Yeah - it's to scale. But keep in mind that this is a general guage for a felling type axe. It works good for my 3.5lber. But I don't use it for boy's axes. But you can use it as a maximum useful thickness for an axe to have any chopping value.
To the others: No - it does matter. That particualr guage is not just an angle. It also is a guage for general bit thickness.
I meant it doesn't matter if its to scale. its still the same angle.
