Just came across this for the first time... http://barrettfieldcraft.com/ Looks like a nice no nonsense rifle. Anybody got any first hand experience with one?

I hope its actually made by Barrett and not a third party. If it is it should be a good rifle.

Barrett left a bad taste in my mouth. A good friend had his 50 cal bolt gun sent back to Barrett on a headspace issue, it sat in their rack for over 2 years untouched. It took a bit of work to finally get it back into his possession. It still has the headspace issue and was covered in a thick coat of dust when he got it back.

Interesting caliber choices, all short action naturally, but no .223 which seems to be a very popular .22.

I’m in the land of limited rifle hunting with no chance of every seeing silencers being made legal so I’d be interested in the unthreaded models too. I sold a 22-250 years ago—it was one of the only things I have sold that I regretted. The lack of good hunting grounds has only gotten worst since then so I’d never replace it but if I every move out west it will be the first thing I do.

I got to check one out in 7mm-08 the other day. It was used for $1400. It was a nice gun but I'll stick to my old Remington model 7 in 7mm-08 or 260 rem. They're stainless with synthetic stock. Probably weigh the same and were made when Remington was putting out nice products.
