Made a simple mask for my Birler. This first shot is just to be functional, I may do another down the road but this will hunt for now.

Just a shotgun blast of photos here folks, long story short is I started making a quicky mask and showed each step. Had some help from the girl cat,(checked my stitches for me) Finished strong. Verbose, I know.

    Enjoy?

The work you did looks great, but it needs one more piece if it is going to keep you safe. You will need one more layer just where the stitches are. A strip that follows the stitching edge, called a welt. It is a sacrificial layer designed to rest on the sharp edge, and keep your stitches from getting cut.

Just trying to keep you safe out there.

I appreciate it! I had a piece cut for the welt but left it out, instead I ran a piece of suede lacing along the inside of the stitch. I haven't glued it or anything, just wedged.

    Thanks for looking!

I like it a lot, it holds up very well and it weighs so little that sometimes I panic and freach to make sure it's still there.

Oh, she de'h sharp boss! One more of these and her name will be Nicky.

No doubt. I have a CRKT Woods Chogan hawk and that thing takes an edge like a razor.

Usually cruise the hobby stores for bags of 5 buck chuck. I wait to purchase until I see bags with usable peices, most have a ton of lace and sCRAP pieces in them.

On occasion I have rolled the dice with Tandy scrap bags online.

Edit; Also, Spring is almost here so I will be keeping my eyes open for wild couches grazing near the road. They're easy to catch, no meat on em to speak of but they have some nice thin hide!
