This one's just for fun. Avoid the crowds and spend some quality time with Sandcut Outdoors on Friday, November 24, 2017, to “Opt Out” from Black Friday shopping. The approximately 4 mile hike will run from 9 am to approximately 2 pm (or earlier based on hiking speed) and will proceed at a leisurely pace in order to allow hikers time to explore the area and have time for breaks/lunch and maybe learn a few things about the natural history of northeastern PA along the way. Meet at the double gate entrance to the Carvolth Campsite Road (see attached trail map) on Pittston Road (Lat/Long - 41.244662, -75.631883) approximately 0.5 mile north of the Pine Hill observation tower, in the Pinchot State Forest (formerly Lackawanna State Forest), in Thornhurst, PA 18424. Space is limited to 25 hikers (no dogs, please). All hikers should be able to hike steep, uneven and rocky terrain. Bring sufficient water, snacks/lunch and clothing appropriate for the late November weather. The hike is free, but pre-registration is required by emailing SandcutOutdoorsLLC@gmail.com not later than dinner time the day before Thanksgiving. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early so that we can start out at 0900 sharp.
