This is my dedicated firewood batoning bolo knife. It has much better control than a camp hatchet and stays under the seat of my truck. I was always told that an uncle made the blade and modified it for the sheath, but recently i"ve seen identical blades online. I believe the sheath is original WWI issue. It is canvas, wood and leather, and the leather tip is stamped: AK CO 1918 RHS.
The handle is plastic and stamped "Made in Japan." It is a chopping beast and easily batons through dried, split oak for camping or backyard fires. It take a good edge and has never taken a nick or dent on the blade. Anybody have one or know the history of these?

Thanks for the info...whatever the origin of the knife, it's stood up to yearly abuse and looks none the worse for wear.
