Hello, I'm 100% new to bushcraft, but I want to begin practicing in the small ways I can at home, building on skills to become proficient enough to try an outing! I like the outdoors, but I've never even been camping - only hiking. I am excited to begin, though. I'm a woman; are there other women bushcraft learners here? Nice to meet you all.

Welcome - A lot of the Bushclass skills can be practiced in the back yard. I carve spoons in my kitchen and mess around with leather craft ideas on the coffee table. I made syrup the other day on the stove from berries I picked last weekend. There are lots of small things you can work on that’ll eventually build up to very useful skills.

Hello and welcome from Kansas. You can practice a lot of skills inside your house and more in your backyard.
When you feel comfortable and confident in your basic skills then you can get out on some day trips, an overnighter with a friend and finally a solo trip. After that it’s a matter of refining your own style and shedding gear as you gain experience.
The most important thing to remember is to have fun.
