Not sure if these have been posted before but came across some videos documenting the Innu of Quebec building a traditional style canoe with split cedar and spruce but using PVC coated canvas as a skin instead of birchbark. Lots of great bushcraft skills and traditional knowledge to learn from while demonstrating adaptation to modern materials.

I warmed my heart to see such care and craftsmanship. In the modern plastic world there are so few people that still get to feel the accomplishment of actually building and using their own gear.
I see he mentioned "fir" which I assume must have been "balsam fir"? We have balsam fir in Michigan. Balsam is my favorite fire bow drill and hearth material.
